She felt cold. Goosebumps raised on her arms and her teeth chattered. A side effect of the blood loss. Human bodies weren’t built to withstand gunshot wounds.

The flesh where the bullet had entered was growing numb. She could feel herself going into shock.

And Oliver was nowhere to be seen. He wasn’t there to save her.

If anything, that knowledge made her feel colder. Angrier. He was there for everyone else, but not her, not today.

Today, he didn’t even know he was needed. And she hated him for it because not only would she die without assistance soon - very soon - but she knew if she died, Oliver would blame himself. He would never forgive himself for not being there to save her. He would hate himself for it.

She wanted to see him, if only to tell him it wasn’t his fault. Even if she still had to die.

Her body flushed with more ice and the numb pain grew even more mute.

Around her, her surroundings were becoming a distant part of her memory, forgotten, not quite seen. Copper filled her mouth, bubbled down her chin.

She didn’t want to leave - so much remained unsaid and they still had a city to finish saving - but she felt a tug toward darkness. Then, footsteps. Fast. Running.

Too late.

“Felicity!” He crouched beside her, took her hand.

She couldn’t feel his touch. “It’s not your fault,” she managed, knowing he would blame himself anyway. Then, “I’m glad you came.”

She let go.
