Very interesting story. I'm intrigued and hope you will write more. This is a different Scully than I have read before in fan fic and I must say it makes for a new perspective that I hadn't thought of before. Good work.

Can I ask how she is different? I'm curious. I like being told that I did something different.

Thank you! :D

I think the difference is the manner in which you describe their first time and how she seems to be unable to allow it to be the embodiment of true happiness that it was. That she can't accept that she loves him and belongs with him. I never really perceived her to be that insecure in their relationship. It gave me another way of looking at it and seeing that Scully was afraid in many ways. That she couldn't forgive herself and let herself love again after all the hurt she felt she caused. Your Scully is much more vulnerable and fragile than she is in many stories I have read and I found that intriguing. Again, great work. :)

Thank you for this analysis. I have always thought of Scully this way - and episodes like En Ami and Trust No 1 only confirmed it in my mind. Scully's confidence often masks her slight insecurities - insecurities she would rather not admit to herself, let alone the man she loves (and who loves her). Yet, to those who know her - like Mulder - it's completely apparent.

So thank you! I'm glad I could make you think about Scully in a new and different way. I hope you enjoy reading my other stuff as well. :)

Oh my! I'm so so glad that you have fallen off the wagon! This was amazing. I could definitely picture the whole scenario happening, the characterization was perfect. Great job! Hope you keep on writing! :)

Thank you so much. This, of the fics I've written so far, is actually my favorite because I agree with you about my characterization of her.

If I can pimp something, I do keep a blog of Scully and Mulder's lives as they are being lived in my head over at writersvoices. If you like this, I hope you'll enjoy reading that.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

*is now more awake, and as a direct result more eloquent*

I think the thing that sets your Scully apart from many other fanfics is that you've shown her vulnerable side. Most people tend to avoid that, maybe they're afraid that they'll make her seem too weak (because as I'm sure you're aware, there is a fine line, especially when dealing with someone like Scully) but she does have a cerain degree of insecurity (who doesn't?,) and you hit the nail right on the head here. Her uncertainty over her relationship with Mulder, her secret jealousy of Melissa's impulsiveness and how ultimately she can't quite bring herself to take the chance and be with the man she loves. I can definitely see why this would be your favourite.

Sorry, I rambled a bit there, but when I wrote my original comment it was late (well, technically it was early but whatever) and I was lazy. I'll definitely check out writersvoices; that's a really good idea, actually.
