From
to
1. Crop your image centering our lovely duo, then duplicate it and set to screen 50%
2. Add a color layer (#BADAF8) and set it to burn 100%
(you can either do this or slightly darken the icon with selective coloring, enhancing the neutrals as you like it)
Anyway, the result should be something like this (Mulder's blue t-shirt needs to be bluer and his hair a little bit darker)
3. Add this texture by ownthesunshine and set it to multiply 100%, then flip it (or if you use PS rotate it until the red part is on top
4. Add this texture by lelymarques and set it to soft light 60%
5. Merge layers, duplicate the icon and flip it (or rotate it until Mulder and Scully are upside down), then place this texture (or any other grungy grey texture similar to this one), moving the M&S copy underneath so that half the icon features their heads and the bottom half of it is filled with the grey part of the texture
6. Add "believe" (faded as you like it) and "mulder" and "scully" (duplicated until they're visible enough) in X-Files font
And violà!!
