Recently at my school a boy committed suicide. He killed himself after his roommate, not once but twice, recorded him having same-sex relations. He asked his roommate to leave the room and the roommate obliged. He left the room, went to a friends and manually turned on his webcam to see what was going on. He then posted on Twitter that his roommate was making out with a guy. The second time he streamed it live through ichat for anyone who wanted to see it, after again telling Twitter what was happening.
He jumped off the George Washington bridge.
I didn't know him but I've been keeping up with the story through the school's newspaper and what professors have told me. I take a few classes dealing with sexuality.
Last night the school organized a protest/march/die-in(which is a sit-in only... laying down, basically). Right now there are news vans outside covering the "Gay teen suicide" because that's all they see. A gay teen killed himself. Nowhere do they see a human just a gay teen.
The spying roommate is being charged with something that may just result on a slap on the wrists and a significant blemish in his file. I don't see the fairness in that.
Actions have consequences. Please think before you do something stupid.
