Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
and I want to gauge the typical responce, you are one of those people I associate with an "all-american" attitude So,
I love Summer Sausage says:
ah
Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
if I were to make you aware of something dreadful, like the fact that hundreds of children are snatched from their homes per night in a small town south of Sudan and used for child labor and (some) made into child soldier to continue genocide... what would be your first response?
Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
would it be like a "that's horrible but...we can't save everyone" one?
Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
or like a "too bad "
Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
or "man i've really gotta learn more about this, so i can help"
I love Summer Sausage says:

Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
Now, if you learned this all in a attacking kind of way (like if the presenter said "a lot of Americans are stupid. they don't even know what's going on outside their country. they have no knowledge or interest in international affairs, and they care nothing about the horrors in other countries because they are all gluttonus, selfish pigs" and THEN they told you about the Sudanese children) would that disengage your interest in helping?
I love Summer Sausage says:
a little bit, yeah
Faith: "Get that cat outta here" ".. did someone say something about manifest destiny? " says:
so it's all about presentation?

I'm not quite sure rather I should be angry or elated that international relations is becoming a fad among my RPCS peers. Just like everything else that ritzy independent-school teenage pop culture has wrapped around it's tenacles, I'm afraid the life and meaning will be sucked out. But I am happy that such situations are finally getting attention, even if for the wrong reasons like popularity or "amusement".
People have to start somewhere. I started at sweatshops (thanks to
asianrenegade) and came to the same conclusion. Some will start at international relations. Some are going to start at animal rights. But we'll all come to the same ending point:
Life deserves to live freely, happily, and fully. This world is not supporting that system. So it's time to change it. And, it CAN be done.
