This is all mostly from a DSR perspective. I do so love the DSR.
When Scully wakes Doggett up at 3:26am he merely raises his eyebrows. Love the way he says “pick ya up” in his sexy voice… *le sigh* Later in the conversation he says “I’ll see you later” and it’s not so much a question of if, as much as it’s him letting her know how much he wants to see her :D And she lets him know that she wants to be with him too “as soon as I can”. Pity it’s all in code but those damn space aliens are probably listening in ;)
On an off-topic note, I love when Doggett breaks down the door to Stedman’s condo! He’s so strong. The Manly Man to Mulder’s Pansy Boy, if you will lol.
Kersh is a bad-ass. “I take it this ‘theory’ comes from Agent Scully”. Our good boy Doggett defends her as always, “Agent Scully has yet to reach any conclusion, Sir”. On top of that he doesn’t even mention that Scully hasn’t even been a part of the investigation so far. Way to go Doggett!
Doggett tells Skinner he’s not the right agent for this case. He’s pissed off because he can’t find a murder weapon, forensic evidence or MO. When Skinner tells Doggett he has spoken to Scully, Doggett looks incredulous. An ‘and you are only telling me this now’ kind of look appears on his face along with a hurt I-can’t-believe-she-didn’t-tell-me-herself look. Maybe Scully feels she can’t lie to him and that’s the reason she called Skinner. Anyway, Doggett has been up for 17 hours with probably very little sleep, combine that with his pissed-offness (not to mention he’s probably dying to hear Scully’s voice) and picks up the phone to call her.
Skinner - Do your best without her. Missing dialogue: Doggett - But Sir, I am at my best when I am with her! She’s my soulmate! :)
Doggett says something about approaching the case in his own way, not “like Scully and Mulder would”. This (to me) is very significant. Doggett recognizes what we all know. That Mulder is a punkass jerk to Scully and therefore does not deserve to be mentioned first whereas most people say ‘Mulder and Scully’.
Creepy sleeping/dreaming Doggett. Can I just say that Robert Patrick is a fantastic actor?!?!!! When he is in the jail and turns around after staring through the bars… I was a bit scared. Creepy.
The look of horror when he realizes that the bloody footprints are his is nothing compared to the look of pure terror when he looks down to find he’s holding Scully’s severed head.
Doggett wakes up and is in a daze. I don’t feel that he recovers from this for a while after he wakes up. When he is on the phone to Scully he still seems a bit out of it. Scully thanks Doggett for being discreet and when he replies “it’s easy to be discreet when you don’t know what’s going on” I swear Scully gives a tiny smile.
Scully - Doggett you’re a good agent. Trust your instincts. Awww! She believes in him! So sweet!
Doggett and Skinner with Tipet at Andre Bormanis’… “He understands, he’s seen what can happen, what will happen, if I don’t stop it”. Doggett lowers his gun in shock, alarm, disbelief? He doesn’t believe in this mumbo-jumbo but if there is a chance Scully is in danger he’s going to do whatever he can to stop it happening.
Awww. The look of hurt combined with the concern on Doggett’s face when he sees Scully on the hospital sign-in list is so touching. There is something incredibly touching about watching someone else sleeping. :) Oh, and Doggett blinks a lot. (Maybe he’s blinking back tears because she’s his soul mate and she’s in a hospital, who knows).
Doggett describes how Tipet was able to kill his victims: “Making the most horrific, irrational dream imagery of their nightmares come true”. This implies that Doggett’s worst nightmare is Scully being killed. You can’t tell me that isn’t love. It’s much more demonstrative of love than Mulder’s dream in Biogenesis. That just showed us that Mulder wanted Samantha, Fowley and Deep Throat more than Scully.
Tipet - She’s going to die. Doggett - I’m not going to let you do that. Tipet - I’m sorry. I’m not going to kill her. You are.
Terrified!Doggett is back. He’s so scared he looks like he’s going to cry when he takes his hands away from his face. He finds himself in Scully’s hallway. He looks a bit confused as to how he got there. Obviously he’s been there before because he knows where her bedroom is (wink wink).
Doggett raises the axe. It gets to head height and he lets it drop as he realizes no matter how much he is being coerced, it’s not enough to make him kill Scully. He won’t do it and turns the axe on himself.
Scully wakes him up. Obviously she’s been to his house before because she knows where his bedroom is too (wink wink). She says a cute/shy “Hi” and she has her hand resting gently on his bedclothes.
You know, it was never explained why she was there. It can’t be to tell him that Tipet is dead because she states that she got that call on her way over. She has no reason to be there and she walks straight into his bedroom… seems a bit suss to me ;)
Also, on the DVD there is a deleted scene from ‘Surekill’ which isn’t part of the discussion but I thought I’d point it out anyway. Doggett and Scully burst into the apartment and as they walk inside they mirror each other’s steps. LOL How cute :)
