AUTHOR'S NOTE: My
first AU drabble went on a bit long so I thought I'd try this one instead.
"Mulder," he answers the ringing phone, leaning back in his chair (pencils thrown into the ceiling threatening to fall on him at any time).
"I wish you wouldn't answer your phone that way," sighs the voice on the other end. "Your name is Fox."
His office is small, papers piling over themselves on his desk, the walls littered with newspaper cut outs and grainy photographs from far flung corners of the globe, but he smiles to himself at the voice.
"No one calls me Fox, I even made my parents call me Mulder.
"Yes, and they hated it." A pause, filled with his smile. "Mom wants to know when you're coming round."
"Tell her Sunday. And Sam, it's not Fox."
He laughs as his sister replaces the receiver with a crash, and cranes his head at the pretty red head walking past his door.
