Story 108: "Recycled Virgins" by Kel

Mar 18, 2010 18:19

I've been saving, nay, I've been hoarding this nomination by ktds. Funny stories are rare enough in The X-Files fandom, funny stories that make me snort tea through my nose are rarer still. From the sexy, funny opening scene to the exciting, funny conclusion, Kel's writing just grabs me and never lets go.

Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. Fated to be together, but blind to
their destiny.

What did it take for this clueless duo to tumble at last into
one another's arms? A broken air conditioner and an ice cube?
A dose of ephedrine? A blizzard? Any of these would have
sufficed. One day it happened. They became lovers.

These uncompromising idealists, totally committed to their work,
decided there was room in their lives for joy as well as anguish,
for comfort as well as pain.

And then what? How would the earliest days of this romance be
anything but bizarre, awkward... maybe even funny?

I enjoy many different styles and genres, but no one has provided me with as much consistent reading pleasure as Kel.

Do send feedback to the author. I'm still hoping she'll write us something new (hint, hint). Then you can let us know what you thought of "Recycled Virgins." Suggestions for next time can be made by dropping a comment at the nomination post. Sooner or later, we will get to them all. The link is to IOHO via the Internet Archive, but you can read this and more at her author's page at Gossamer.
