Not gonna do a really long post now, but I just wanted to let ya know something.
So I went in today to mess with the bass. And guess the fuck what?
I got a pretty good grasp on two songs.
Brain Stew by Green Day and Riot by Three Days Grace.
I got those two down pretty good. I gotta go through them a couple more times next week to make sure I have the notes and shit memorized, but I pretty much got it down. And I definitely have to work on my speed for Riot, but it's pretty easy. Just a few more practice rounds and I'll have it and be able to move on to something harder for sure :)
OH and I also worked on Our Lady Of Sorrows by MCR. The intro and verses are pretty easy, but at this point switching from string to string still trips me up, since Brain Stew and Riot only use the E string. But I'll try to get Our Lady Of Sorrows done by the end of next week ;3
I'm hoping Mr. Pollock lends me an amp over the summer, or that the one my brother left here actually works. And then as soon as I can I'll make a video of myself probably playing Brain Stew first, and then a Riot one. Just so I know I got it down. I may put both songs in one video too, btw.
Anyways, I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm doing pretty good with the bass. Two days in, and all I did yesterday was look at the thing and touch it and screw with the strings randomly. I hope things keep going good like this, man. I'm eager as fuck to learn harder songs. :P
Thanks to Frankita, my lovely sister, for teaching me how to read bass tabs and being so helpful with giving me songs to learn and everything.
Thanks to Holly, for the amazing support and just for being there for me so much these past couple weeks. You've helped me more than you probably know, honey. OH, and thanks for offering to be our drummer! I'd definitely love to have you. :)
And thanks to Tommie for everything in the past, and lately just making me more and more confident that I can learn bass. My goal is to be able to play with you someday, 'kay? I can't wait for that, darling. Good luck with your band, and I'm sure me and Max won't be far behind you at this point ;) <3
