so yeah, it's been forever. like over a month. sorry, my bad. I won't bother with all of the mundane details of the past month because that would take far longer than I have, so I'll just focus on the big things. First, April 11th my roommate Bill and I went to Dice-K's Fenway debut. The sox ended up losing (a rare occurrence so far this season) but it was such an awesome experience, all the same. Between then and the beginning of May there isn't all that much to report, but last Sunday (May 6th) was the premiere of Shifting the Paradigm; it went very well. There was a good crowd and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. My parents came down, too, which was really awesome of them and my adviser (Kevin Anderson) took all of us in the various directed studies out for drinks after wards - awesome. That same day also concluded my undergraduate career - that's right, I'm DONE! It was a crazy, hectic semester and all of my work really came down to the wire, but it turned out to be my highest GPA-earning semester ever, so I'm happy.
This past weekend (May 10-14) I went with Chelsea to Susquehanna for some of their senior week festivities and their graduation. We went to the senior pub crawl Thursday evening which was awesome; I saw so many kids I hadn't seen since freshman year, so that was really neat. SU's graduation was on Sunday and it was a really nice ceremony. It felt sort of weird seeing everyone I knew walk across the stage and not being a part of it, but I'm really glad I got to be there.
And that brings us to this week. This is my senior week; not too much has happened yet, but it will be a weekend filled with booze and mayhem, I'm sure. tomorrow I'm going to the Pawsox game, which will be awesome. everyone who played for the sea dogs last summer now plays in pawtucket, so it'll be cool to see them all play again. and then this Sunday is MY GRADUATION! I'm really, really excited. my sister, josh and connor are coming up, as is my brother mike and my parents, chelsea and her sister jana are all coming down. It's gunna be a fun-filled day, for sure.
I was a little melancholy about graduating as recently as last week but now I've really come to terms with it (I think going to SU's graduation helped). I know that all of the fun I've learned to have in college, and all of the people who are really important to me and all of the values and beliefs and knowledge that has come out of these awesome four years will travel with me where ever I go. And, while I have had a really awesome time here and will certainly miss it (I don't think there's anyway not to), I'm really excited now to start the next chapter in my life and I think it's going to be an awesome road ahead. I have a job interview for an account executive position in the sales department at WGME-13 (the CBS affiliate in Portland) Monday the 21st and am waiting to set up interview times for similar positions at WPXT-TV (the WB affiliate in Portland) and the Citadel Broadcasting stations (WCYY, WBLM, etc.) in Portland. So it's looking very much like I'll be in Portland selling advertising, and that all sounds quite perfect to me, for now.
Anywho - enough reflecting. it's senior week, I need to go sit on my duff and do absolutely nothing! cheers.
