so a coworker has season tickets to the rangers at madison square garden and was offering a number of them up for grabs at work. i've never been to a hockey game or madison square garden for that matter, so i snagged a pair. bryan and i mustered up the energy to go despite our very long day yesterday (brunch w/ friends and then drinking w/ friends until 3am). well, i can say, it payed off about 10 minutes into the game. two players grabbed each other by the jersey and just pounded each other's faces. the refs idled by until they began to tire and then stepped in. the whole crowd at MSG were on their feet cheering. it made me a bit ill.
the other highlight was the "junior rangers" - a bunch of little kids playing a minute of hockey between periods. the biggest kid on the team kept throwing the other kids into half nelsons or holding them by their necks against the wall. i pointed it out to b. later on we realized their parents were sitting directly behind us. oops! b was like "yeah, i heard one of the parents call the kid an asshole."
in other news, ladies and germs, i broke down and bought a new computer. after working on a dual 2ghz g5 at work, coming home to the 4 yr old g4 400 laptop was quite painful. those idiots over at compusa gave me some credit and well, in addition to the machine, i got a sweet sweet flat panel. so without further adieu, here she is and she's smokin:
20-inch (viewable)
1680 x 1050 optimal resolution
16.7 million colors
DVI Display Connector
2 port USB 2.0 Hub
2 FireWire 400 ports
Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5
1GHz frontside bus per processor
512K L2 cache per processor
512MB DDR400 SDRAM
Expandable to 4GB SDRAM
160GB Serial ATA
16x SuperDrive (double-layer)
Three PCI Slots
ATI Radeon 9600
128MB DDR video memory
(hah, i did not realize until just now that i have two firewire ports ON THE flat panel itself. i was wondering why, in addition to the standard monitor type hookup to the video card in the tower, it also had firewire and USB cable hookups to the back of the tower). i'm thinking i'm gonna get more RAM. it only has 512M. the one at work has a 1g and i can definitely tell the difference. especially when working with large photoshop files.
and did you see the screen? *drooool*
