[Out in front of the Hoenheim household, there is a tall pine tree. Every year, for the past seven or so, it has been decorated for Christmas. This year is no exception.
Hoenheim is standing beside the tree, which is mostly decorated already, ornaments glittering silver, gold, and white against the dark green of the tree. They are ones he's made over the years, he and the other alchemists, and each metallic orb has a pattern on it in white, an alchemical symbol or rune. There are suns and stars and lions and dragons and salamanders and others, each decoration symbolizing a concept or ideal. There's no power there, just art, just reminders of home.
The tree is lit, not with candles or electric lights, but by the ornaments themselves, the ones made of glass, and filled with a compound that glows a soft blue.
