I am not angry. I was yesterday, but it has waned to a mild annoyance.
I know I don't have the same attitude towards conventions as everyone else. I know that, in comparison, I'm something of a buzzkill. I can accept that.
I also know that any human attempt to keep from losing track of my friends at a convention is ultimately in vain. I accept that as well, and that is why I use communications technology to counter that.
Now, There is one thing I cannot accept, and that is a LACK OF COMMUNICATION.
Some people's cell phone's did not have minutes or were left behind, and that is perfectly fine.
What is not fine, is not clearly stating to everyone "My cell phone is ______". Some people did that, some didn't. Also, an explanation would be nice, because sometimes, someone might just be able to remedy whatever problem you have, or improvise a solution.
Kenney, recently I asked you if you could still receive text messages, and you said yes. Being able to only receive a communique is better than not being in contact at all. A pay-phone or other cell phone can suffice for a call-back. On Friday, you said you had your charger with you so I could recharge my cell phone. I assumed that you also had your phone as well. Yesterday, you said you left your cell phone at home because it wasn't working. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO THINK? Did it break, or is it still just out of minutes? Since no one with us went home between Jourdan's birthday and MTAC.....
I hope I'm not the only one who would be confounded by such a situation.
In addition to the LCBO and restaurant thing, do you see why Mark and I might just be the least bit angry or annoyed?
I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I'm just trying to understand what happened, and how it can be avoided in the future.
Also, It would be nice if, at the next post-con dinner discussion, we could ALL have it instead of things being decided while everyone's spread about the con.
