Well, it's been "Monsoon Season" for a little over a week now here in the Valley of the Sun. Tempe, however, has seen very little monsooning... until last night that is. Last night was one of the craziest storms I've ever seen. Midwestern spring storms are pretty hearty, and I've seen a good storm or two, but this was something else.
First, it started pouring rain out of nowhere and less than 30 minutes later our power was out. The thunder (mostly rolling) was literally constant. About an hour into the storm, I rolled out of bed to hit up the latrine, only to discover water on our bedroom floor. It was coming in through the baseboards. *sigh* Not a pleasant way to deal with things. It was already warming up quite a bit since we, obviously, had no AC. Well, we moved the bed to the other side of the room, moved everything off the floor and unfolded the fouton in the other room. The storm continued and it was quite tough to sleep. Eventually we got up and went outside for a bit to check things out. It was windy, and everything we saw was flooded. This morning was a mess. We got our carpet dried out and such. There are VERY large branches strewn about the parking lot. Craziness!
Anyways, that was the beginning of our monsoon season here in Tempe. Good times!
