My Weekend

1) Spent Friday evening with Zack.  Had a nice supper followed by hours at Open Eye inventing a new surrealist game while listening to a not-groundbreaking-but-competent singer-songwriter.  Suprisingly, I'm much more fun than I thought I was.  I'm going to miss this quality time.  Images here: http://niewolnoczekac.livejournal.com/299219.html

2) Saturday morning was momentous by being mundane.  I saw The Seventh Seal for the first time and was delighted to find that it is both a somber reflection on the human condition and quite hilarious.  The squire is, of course, the best character.  Then for some reason I started listening to flapper-jazz on Youtube.

3) Dinner party at van Aalst's semi-mansion.  I could have handled myself less awkwardly but all in all it was fun.  I had to leave just as I was getting really comfortable though.

4) Proletariat Princess show--the reason I had to leave the dinner party early.  I assumed that Kit was back in town from the Comedy Sports trip but was mistaken.  I'd already left the party so I figured I'd do just as well to stay and take photos anyway.  It's interesting because Joe wasn't in the last show I'd photographed so it balanced out in an aesthetic sort of way.

5) Sunday, bloody Sunday.  I bought a copy of this compendium of pulp noir stories which, quite frankly, is incredibly bad-ass.

6) Except.

7) Saw X-Files.  It was...well, I enjoyed watching it but I wouldn't recommend it.  It has some very strong emotional moments but it doesn't feel cinematic.  It would have worked fine as an episode of the show.

8) Return to the gym.  I've let my tumor keep me out of the gym for something like two weeks.  The guilt finally became more substantial than the pain so I trod over and did a bit of light exercise in my massive fuck-all boots.  Forty minutes on the exercise bike, 20 at a high-intensity and 20 at a cool-off intensity followed by chest presses.  I didn't want to overexert myself on my first day back and aggravate my tumor and I feel like I held together pretty well.  I really should have done more weights but I felt that it was getting late and I wanted to rest my legs.  Two sets of 10 repetitions of 105 lbs (counting resistance for accuracy/generosity's sake).
