Surreality

I had a procession of bizarre dreams that culminated in one big bizarre dream last night.  To preface this my sleep for the past 24 hours consisted of two three-hour blocks separated by four hours of consciousness so that may have been a contributing factor.

First I had a dream that I was in bed and that Kit in his Gollum costume was crouching on my other pillow watching me.  He whispered something I didn't hear and then I woke up and started looking for him.

Suddenly it was the next day.  Non-Gollumy Kit and I went to a library to look for comic books.  It's a library I've never seen before but in the dream I knew I'd been there a hundred times.  As we were searching I got distracted by a book about the phenomenon of beached whales.  Mike Bamford came in and we all started talking about it.

For some reason alterna-Chapel Hill was an ocean-side college town.  We went outside and sure enough three whales were beached and already dead.  The weren't rotten as they washed up freshly before our very eyes.  We decided the coincidence was freakish enough to warrant leaving.  Mike goes off on his bike and Kit and I went into an alley that had amazing murals.  We ran into an art dealer we knew and told him about the weird whale incident and he said he'd seen a show about psychic cetaceans on the Discovery Channel.  Mike circled around and we shared a bag of Chex mix.

For some reason we started feeling like there was some kind of conspiracy going on.  Kit and I go into a studio that has a stage and an area for visual arts (DSI plus Art Center?) and I start to paint something but the painting just transforms into beached whales.  In the painting Gollum Kit was crouching in the shadow of one of the carcasses.  Kit got weirded out and accused me of doing it on purpose as he got an elaborate costume ready for a Kit Marlowe, PI sketch show he'd devised.

I think I woke up after that.  I actually felt pretty entertained.
