A totally unplanned but eventful Valentine's Day

I've spent the weekend with Jakob and just got back. We were supposed to go out with my colleagues on Valentine's Day, but it was cancelled because too many people were ill. Flu times, I suppose... Now, there were quite a few other fun things we could have done instead; go to a burlesque club with Christina and friends, go to an ebm club by ourselves or watch Twilight and eat Thai food with Irena and Maria.

But, since I got the cancellation call in the middle of our preparations for going into town, we decided to continue in that direction. So we dressed warm, took the tube to Slussen and got off there to take a walk by the water, looking at old sailing boats, swimming little birds and you know, just chilled. We followed the water until we came to Djurgården, and almost went to the Nordic Museum with a fashion exhibition, but the line was too long. So instead we shuffled on to Östermalm, and by now we'd been walking for an hour, so my blood sugar was getting prettty low. Stopped by at the market halls to have a Latte and some delicious banana/chocolate/nut cake and headed into the city for some shopping. Using the tube to go just one station, because we both had pretty tired legs.

Jakob found some clothes at H&M (he got some gift certificates for his birthday), and we found some silicone cupcake liners in black and white at Drömhuset (isn't that great?? You can wash them after you eat the cup cake and reuse them! Environment says thanks, I suppose?). Since we are planning to move in together this year, I think maybe this was our very first mutual thing we got for our home. Cup cake liners! How homely. :)

Then I wanted to check out Pom Pom Parlour (a burlesque shop), because I had a a gift certificate there. And it was pretty cool, because they had had some sort of Valentine's Day event, so they had - low and behold - a plate of cupcakes with raspberyy icing, which were free for all customers. Yum! I think that was the best cupcake icing I've ever had... And I found the most beautiful Stop Staring dress in pink and black, so 1950:s, so pin-up! And because of the event, a Swedish writer, Katerina Janoush, was there for a book signing and to help around at the shop (Jakob said he thinks she might even be part of running the shop), and she helped me zip up the dress, ran to get me a pair of high heeled shoes so I would better see what the dress would look like and tried her best to sell me the dress with compliments and such. Ahem... but I had already set my mind on buying the dress anyway, although flattery is nice sometimes. :)

After shopping, we went to a rock bar for a beer and then on to a tapas restaurant for some - tapas! My favourite was the deep fried squid with mayo. :D Then we got some semi-expensive chocolate pralines at one of the tourist trap candy shops on Drottningggatan (the main street in Stockholm), went home and watched "Walk the Line" on DVD (I think this was the third time I watched it, I totally love it), while munching pralines and drinking tea. A very very nice day, and oh how tired I was at 11:30 PM already! I wouldn't have had energy for much else. :)

And the funny thing was, we didn't plan for any of this! It just was a spontaneous day where we did whatever came to mind. Not because it was Valentine's Day, but because it was a Saturday and our original plans were cancelled. :)
