its amazing what you'll learn at random times of the day when you least expect it.
well i was watch Tool Time, and Tim was telling this old guy about how he got into a fight with his wife. the old guy asked him if everything had worked out. Tim responded with a very sincere, "yeah, but i have no idea how, i just don't get her sometimes you know." well the old guy responded with a very unusual answer, "good, keep it that way." Tim asked, "wait what? what do you mean?"
The the old guy responded with one of the tenderest stories i have ever had the chance to hear:
"Well you see i was lucky enough to be married to my wife for 45 years. Thats a long time. And you see, she had these little, UGLY, little porcelain cats that she loved to place on a window, all lined up in a nice little row. And every day, for 45 years, i would get those cats and put them away in a cup board somewhere. But every single day for 45 years, god rest her soul, she would get those little cats, and line them back up on the window sill. Every single day for 45 years!"
Tim- "so where are those cats now?"
old guy- "on the window sill"
Tim- "wait. so you didn't throw them out?"
old guy- "no, i just didn't really see any reason to. So you see, thats the thing about women. You don't have to understand them, you just have to love them."
You don't have to understand them, you just have to love them
i know the story isn't a true story, and i know it's only a lame tv show, but for some reason, that quote hit me really deep.
go figure.
