Spectacular!

Jul 14, 2007 22:50

today was, for lack of any better words, absolutely spectacular!

Well, it all started at 5 this morning when i got up to go help Grace with her garage sale. After spending half an hour looking for my moms car keys, i got to grace's house and got started with the garage sale. That went great. Put up signs. Sold Stuff. Listened to music. Talked to some cool people i don't get to talk to very often otherwise. Some of which I've been really wanting to catch up with for some time. So that was really great. Bought a really neat chess set and an electronic fortune cookie and some clothes. So was really great.

Later i went to church to play like i do every Saturday.

When i got there Mr. Shane told me that the church had a drum set they where looking to sell. i jumped right on that chance! i took a look at it, it looks pretty nice, the heads and shells look great. the snare and cymbals look a little off, but for the price they offered. its really great. Now i just have to get my dad's okay and borrow some cash and I'll finally have a drum set to call my own. :D *excited*

Then when we actually played in church,
it went pretty well. I decided to play my trumpet this week instead of drums, i don't know why i just kinda felt like it. it wasn't the best playing I've ever done, but it was still acceptable and i had a really fun time. Apparently, we didn't sound to bad (We= Me, Sean, Wayne, Matthew Lane) because this nice lady walked up to us and said "Here boys, you guys sounded really great. Go get yourselves some pizza." The she handed us 25 dollars (to split between the 4 of us). It wasn't a lot, but you could not believe how much that meant to me. That was the first time i had every mad any sort of money playing my trumpet. (hopefully not the last *knocks on wood*) I still have my share of it (the $5) and I'm going to frame it, to remind me if things are ever going really rough that it is possible to make money like this. I guess It was just a defining moment for me as a person; it added a lot of emotional foundation and confidence to my dreams of being a professional musician. I really can do it.....

We (same We) decided that getting pizza wasn't a bad idea. so we all hopped into Matthew Lane's truck and  went down to CC's and hung out for a while, lots of fun.

The we dropped off Wayne and the remaining group went over to Sean's to hang out some more. We listened to music and played lots of hard-core guitar hero. it was great.

The i finally went home: tired, sleepy, hyper, really hyper, and really REALY hyper. So i called Jacy and told her all about today and we talked about some other things for a little while, good stuff.

And now they're playing my absolute favorite movie. ....wow..... what a day.......

Other stuff:

Today while we were at the garage sale a few lines from these songs really struck an emotional chord in me so i just thought I would share them with you:

"And if I said to you tomorrow
Take my hand child, come with me
And to a castle I will take you
Where, what's to be they shall be

And if you said to me tomorrow
oh what fun it all would be
Then whats to stop us pretty baby
But what is and what should never be

So if you wake up with the sunrise
And all your dreams are still as new
And happiness is what you need so bad
Well, girl the answer lies with you

Catch the wind see us spin
Sail away leave the day
Way up high in the sky
Hey oh
Where the wind won't blow
We really shouldn't go
And it only goes to show
That you will be mine
By taking our time
oooohhhh"

Led Zeppelin- What is and What Should Never Be

-and (this one more so than the previous one) -

" You look in her eyes, the music begins to play
Hopeless romantics, here we go again

Johnny come lately, the new kid in town
Will she still love you when you're not around?

There's so many things you should have told her,
But night after night you're willing to hold her,
Just hold her, tears on your shoulder"

The Eagles - New Kid In Town

Music has a way of getting people to feel things they don't usually feel,
or just helping them get a grip on feelings that they are already feeling :p
but either way, its just amazing what music can do to you.

all in all, today on a scale of 1-10  (10= best):

Person A- "This is the top of an amp we use on stage, but this one is very special. Because as you can see: the numbers all go to, eleven. Look, right across the board. Elven....eleven......eleven."

Person B-  "And most amps only go to 10?"

Person A- "Right"

Person B- "Does that mean it's louder, is it any louder?"

Person A- "Well.....it's one louder isn't it. it's not 10, it's 11"

Person B- "And, why don't you just  make 10 louder and make that the loudest number and make that a little louder?"

Person A- "..................*silence*.................These go to 11!"

yeah, today was an 11 for sure.
