A question for everyone who isn't a Top 40's music whore like me: Which singers & bands would a music snob listen to from the late 80's onwards? The only one that keeps popping in my head is R.E.M. I'm thinking indie musicians, maybe a few avant-garde stuff, acts that would be labelled "sell-out" should they receive mainstream airplay. Michael of RomCom #2, who is 30/31 years old, needs to fight with his son about Linkin Park and System of a Down.
The first 1000 words of RomCom #2 are finished; roughly 99,000 words left to go. Word counts are great marking posts to have. I'm pretty sure I can do 1000 words a day even if I go back to school which I inevitably will or even if I start working full-time which is about as likely. I'm certainly enjoying following the ever-growing herd of amateur wine-connoisseurs. By the end of the summer, I'd like to get the courage to call up some
local film/tv industry affiliates and ask to putter around the sets in order to actually get a feel of the film industry as opposed to reading hundreds upon thousands of first- and second-hand accounts via blogs, tabloid articles, & fan encounters. As long as the Canadian Revenue Agency doesn't change its rulings on creative artists/small business tax exemptions I am so write everything off.
Have I mentioned that I love having 'Net access on my computer again? 'Cause I SO do.
While we're on the topic of writing: mwahs to
scottishlass for her editorial thoughts on RomCom; double mwahs to
edanielrya for beta'g RomCom #1 and the most recent Scott & Remy fic but also acting as a bounce-partner extraordinaire, patiently listening to my brainstorming babble. Advanced thankies to everyone else who's still slogging through the RomCom; I hope your eyes aren't bleeding from all the typos I've missed.
