Item 1: Elemental!verse Scott Summers is kind of a passive-aggressive dickhead when it comes to his brothers. I know this, I consciously set out to do this when I wrote Elemental but it is giving me SUCH a friggin' headache! Oh, he's a lovely teacher & a great X-Men leader but the minute I drop an interaction/conflict with his brothers, he just reverts & it affects all his decision-making. It really was a good idea for all 4 of them to live separately because they're toxic to each other in prolonged doses.
I'm venting 'cause I'm trying to figure out if I should re-write large sections of the plot or just soldier on, blank, jaw-clenched so I can GET TO THE END DAMMIT instead of re-writing the second half for the fourth time.
Item 2: The two-fer (because it IS a two-fer, dammit) I've been calling "Last Family of Krypton Goes on a Roman Holiday" is at the point where I'm seriously considering throwing up the first part online. It's not quite done but
since Writing!Muse found its motivation, if I motor today, it'll be 90% done. The second story needs to percolate a little so I can cut out anything superfluous. I also need to make A Major Decision about a pivotal scene in the middle of Story 2. I need to make A Major Decision without the influence of my menstrual cycle. Those who know me, know what this means. When I'm PMSing, I like to KILL ALL THE CHARACTERS.
Item 3: Reading over the plot outline for Rasputin, the sequel to D'Ancanto. Say what you will about X3, but it's really set up the movieverse to be very female-centric. Ororo's the natural choice to be the headmaster of the school & leader of the X-Men. Moira MacTaggert has the history with Xavier to be a strong co-leader at least on the research & medical side of things. Plus with Hank McCoy as a UN rep & Jean dead, she's the shoe-in for the school's doctor. Emma Frost is the only person in the USA who'd be the telepath replacement. I don't see why Betsy Braddock would leave England especially if Moira has; Someone has to be around for the UK/European faction of mutants.
Now with Rasputin, Colossus' mom & Illyana, his sister, have major parts. This is so appropriate considering the series started as a
femgenficathon prompt. I might still be apologizing for that.
