So, Disney bought Marvel.

On the one hand, that's a LOT of money for Marvel. This could mean more movies, cartoons, please GOD ACTION FIGURES. Let's face it, The Mouse owns EVERYTHING. It's financed wondrous creations like Gargoyles and everything Pixar has ever done ( Read more... )

Yeah. XD Actually, the company I work for is owned by the mouse as well (acquisition went through in 07) and they haven't had an impact on our product besides financing. Even though we're in the same demographic as Disney's core group (ie: kids). Bob Iger also has a bit more respect for the properties Disney acquires than say, Eisner had (see: Pixar, which still runs independently from the main Disney unit and has creative freedom under Iger, as apposed to when Eisner was running around being a bastard with Pixar's properties)

I know. TL;DR. :p but what it comes down to is current management has a respect for the content that it purchases, and is buying said content for what it already is and the audience it already has, not what they want to turn it into. The only big change I can see is a subdivision of marvel starts publishing some of Disney's comics (based on The Incredibles and Pirates, and they already exist... Just would change house)

Also edit: Disney was already involved with Miramax prior to 2003 as well, it was just completely bought out at that date. So this means that movies like Dogma and Pulp Fiction are also technically Disney. XD

Oh, so Eisner's out.VERY good to know. IIRC, he started out really well when Disney needed a control freak to gather and brand itself but that didn't work out too well in the later years.

In that case CARRY ON, SIR MICKEY.

Yeah. He managed to recoup a bunch of losses from the eighties, but he started strapping himself into the drivers seat and made the big focus money. Got so bad that Roy Disney even walked out on the company (though he's back now as a consultant, after heading up the board members who eventually ousted Eisner)

First thing Iger did when he took over was run around and apologize to everyone Eisner insulted it seems.
