There's a show on Spike called
Deadliest Warrior. Flist, I thought there was nothing that could surpass Mythbusters and Good Eats on my nonfic TV list. This has.
Every week, the show pitches two warriors-- any two warriors-- and their tools against each other in a fight to the death. We are talking MASSIVE AMOUNTS of AWESOME WEAPONS and the extremely skilled people trained to use them. There's an ER/UFC doctor and a combat/UFC trainer at hand with a resident computer geek to measure the amount of damage each weapon/tactic can inflict.
So far, the fights have been:
1: Apache vs Gladiator
2: Viking vs Samurai
3: Spartan vs Ninja
4: Pirate vs Knight
5: Yakuza vs Mafia
6: Green Beret vs Spetsnaz
7: Shaolin Monk vs Māori Warrior
The advantage of Deadliest Warrior over Mythbusters and Good Eats is, of course, the carnage. They go through a metric whackload of balistics-gel-on-skeleton dummies and pig carcasses. Most of the balistics dummies bleed. Flist, it is SO MUCH FUN to watch. AND it's educational.
I love television.
