Pilgrim in the Temple of Love

"Alex, remind me why we're in a gay bar watching strippers?"
"Exotic dancers, Scott. They're exotic dancers."
"Strippers dressed up as elves and reindeer."
"'Tis the season!"
Scott glared at Alex who blinked up at him with wide, innocent blue eyes and a grin so engaging it could be used in a DeBeers commercial. "You know, I'm pretty sure I saw Mom drop you on your head as a baby," he said.
"Ah, quit complaining, Scotty. At least we're undercover as patrons of this fine establishment. Need I remind you what happened to the poor sap who drew the short straw."
Scott's frown turned upside-down and he took a quaff of the truly wonderful house wine.
The emcee leaped onstage, his pompom flopping as he went. Oh, and the one on his hat, too. "And now, boys, for the show you're all waiting for. The big guy himself. Saaaaaaaaaaantaaaaaaaaa!"
Thick red curtains drew back. A bough of mistletoe lowered gracefully from above. Glittery confetti showered the stage. The spotlight shone on Wolverine in a tight red suit with white fur trim.
"Tsk, tsk, that better not be real fur," said Alex.
"Ho, ho, ho," Scott added. He toasted "Santa" by raising his wine glass up high. "Please tell me you brought a camera."
"Dude, we are streaming this into the security system back at the mansion."
The emcee hooted and slapped Wolverine's left buttock. "Shake your thing, Santa!" A techno mix of "Jingle Bells" began. The audience crowded around the stage, waving bills.
Warmth burst in Scott's soul. He looked his brother straight in the eye and said, "Thank you. This is exactly what I wanted for Christmas."
