Elemental Fanmix

Here's the fanmix I talked about a couple days ago. Several instructions because I don't know my way around iTunes and I have no compression programs:
1) it is huge at 22 songs and 2 large JPGs. lady_sarai test d/l'ed it and said it took around 15 minutes for individual song d/ls; uploading took 30 minutes.
2) click "Sort by Date" to get the songs in order; they do have a chronological order.
3) you ARE going to have to d/l the songs and the images individually. I'm so sorry; like I said, I have no compression programs.

Link to the songs and the CD covers

1) Flawed Design - Stabilo
When I was a young boy I was honest and I had more self-control; if I was tempted I would run
Then, when I got older I began to lie to get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it
- And I wanted it
Now, I'm having trouble differentiating between what I want and what I need to make me happy
So instead of thinking I just stop before I have the chance to contemplate the consequences of action
-- This pretty much sums up the state that Scott, Remy, Alex AND Adam are at when the story starts. They were all very close as children but because of various reasons, least of all their own hang-ups, things started going horses thus giving way to...

2) One is the Loneliest Number - Aimee Mann
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one, its the loneliest number since the number one
-- A self-explanatory song. When Remy and Scott are under the same roof, their differences are underlined and they actually end up isolating each other more than when they were separated geographically. This is also Adam's introductory song.

3) Citadel - Anna Nalick
I'm sittin' on a citadel contemplating life, making a point to waste my time
I'm walking on clouds of white
What if I fall, what if I don't, what if I never make it home
What if I bleed, what if I break, and I find that I can't take the city below the citadel holding my own hand?
Sittin' alone
-- I'm starting to feel repetitive. *L* This is a combination of Remy and Adam's song although it's metaphoric for Remy and more literal for Adam. Scott kind of nudges in here too; his citadel in his case is the school.

4) Firestarter - Prodigy
I'm the trouble starter, punking instigator.
I'm the fear addicted, danger illustrated.
I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter
--- Alex. It's AAAAALLL Alex. Oh Alex, you so badass.

5) 21st Century Digital Boy - Bad Religion
Cuz I'm a 21st century digital boy
I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys
My daddy's a lazy middle class intellectual
My mommy's on valium, so ineffectual
Ain't life a mystery?
-- This song summarises the Past Interludes, the boys' childhood where they basically had to raise themselves. Warren comes into this song as well, having to raise himself and create his own family which is probably why Scott's friendship means so much to him.

6) What a Good Boy - Barenaked Ladies
When I was born, they looked at me and said
what a good boy, what a smart boy, what a strong boy.
-- I think of this as Scott's song although it could, again, apply to all four. Somewhere at the end of Part I and beginning of Part II, Scott feels the old tug of family obligation and he's not even sure WHY he resists it until Warren points out that he's basically been a slave to the family name until he left for school.

7) Kids With Guns - Gorillaz
Kids with guns
Taking over
But it won't be long
-- This encompasses the Jr. X-Men subplot, especially where it crosses over to Remy's training of Rogue and Bobby&Jubilee with SHIELD.

8) Absconding - Daughter Darling
In the visions of the dark night
I have dreamed of joy departed
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me brokenhearted
--- This is more for atmosphere, Adam's and a few of the Interludes. I shouldn't explain too much; just listen to it during Adam's scenes.

9) Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums - A Perfect Circle
Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window
Go back to sleep
Safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils,
See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do.
--- Another atmospheric song, again for Adam but also for Remy and kind of for Alex especially with his mild Milbury situation.

10) Save Your Scissors - Dallas Green
So save your scissors for someone else's skin
My surface is so tough I don't think the blade will dig in
--- Scott and Remy's. Oh BOYS. This is for most of Part III when the two of them are hating HARD at each other.

11) Mad World - Gary Jules
All around me are familiar face, worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere
--- When Alex and Adam start taking matters into their own hands, it's a little freaky for both of them. After all, Alex has a bomb pitched into his room and Adam is going through Giger's version of the Ancient Roman Circus.

12) Bird on a Wire - k.d. lang
Like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
--- Scott, Remy and Alex, in their own way, are still resisting the whole "teamwork" and "blood is thicker" adage even by Part III.

13) Malaguena - Brian Setzer Orchestra
--- No lyrics. It's just a kickass training song for Remy and Rogue. :D

14) Take Off Your Cool - Outkast ft. Nora Jones
-- Immediately followed by the sexy song for the last chapter of Part III *cough* (AKA Look, Ma! I Dun Wrote a Smut Scene!)

15) Remedy - Seether
Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail
And so we go back to the remedy
Clip the wings that get you high, just leave them where they lie
And tell yourself, "You'll be the death of me"
--- Because Adam gets angsty, too. *petpets*

16) Paint it Black - The Animals
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
--- By the beginning of Part IV, Scott's already getting a sense of inevitable doom regarding not only his connection to his brothers but the conclusion of this whole mission. There's a hint of the rest of the boys in here in relation to the end of Part IV

17) You Got Me All Wrong - Dios Malos
You got me all wrong
You left me under water
To tumble and fall
So many years ago
--- This is from each boy to his brothers during The Cave of PAIN and CONFESSION. And, in a way, it's from the boys to Chris Summers who is deliberately never shown present day.

18) Numb - Holly McNarland
You can't see if I'm not listening
You can't hear with my eyes open
I can hate with my eyes open
I feel better when I'm numb
--- Another Cave of PAIN and CONFESSION song. I love that cave.

19) Right Now - Korn
--- This DOES have lyrics. I just don't think it's relevant because, to be honest, this is a song for what goes on beyond The Cave of PAIN and CONFESSION. Yes, folks, this is Jr. X-Men and SHIELD kicking ass song.

20) The Port - Tool
Foot in mouth, and head up asshole.
Whatcha talkin' 'bout?
Difficult to dance 'round this one
'til you pull it out, boy!
--- Believe it or not, I think of this as the happy song because I totally see the boys teasing each other in that lovingly punch-happy way that Summers' show love.

21) Shelter - Ray LaMontagne
Listen when all of this around us'll fall over
I tell you what we're gonna do
You will shelter me my love and I will shelter you
--- I know it sounds like a love song; it probably is. And it COULD fit in for the Remy/Rogue wrap up as well as the Adam/Gav but I see it more as an affirmation of OH!BROTHERS!HUG especially for the very last chapter.

22) Beautiful Mistake - Better Than Ezra
Photo stills in your wallet with the unpaid bills
And you show it like it means something
You could never know the pain it brings
And here you are standing in our drive (when absence suits you best)
--- A final summary of the Summers family dynamic, directed towards Chris Summers mostly. Less angry, more melancholy and might factor into the sequel.
