Hallelujah

I adore Leonard Cohen. I'm resigned myself to the knowledge that I'll always have pedestrian tastes in poetry because I'm no poet but Leonard Choen's lyrics/poems always give me Guh!. You're quite right about Allison Crowe's voice! I have the joy of working with Allison, and, at one theatre show there was a problem with some wiring, and the PA cut out five or six songs before the end of the concert. The newspaper review noted: "The microphone died just before Crowe launched into Pearl Jam’s Jeremy but the soundman didn’t even seem to notice a loss of quality since her unadorned voice still filled the theatre so majestically." Allison finished the concert unamplified - closing with Hallelujah.

Anyway, please excuse me - I'm home sick this weekend, and posting some songs online for the New Year. Hallelujah, is, indeed, such a beautiful song - with so many versions for people to love.

Leonard Cohen is one of Allison's favourite songwriters/poets, and she's also covered his Joan of Arc @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/music/joanofarc.mp3

It's very different to Hallelujah, but, is also poetically brilliant (to my ears).

(Should anyone find MOKB links to Allison's mp3 acting up, the song is @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/music/hallelujah.mp3 and there's vids @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/Hallelujahvideos.html as well as YouTube+)

Happy, healthy, 2007!!

Oh, that is all sorts of awesome!

I'm very picky about who I see live but I can't wait for her to drop by my city. I don't think I'd discovered her yet the last time she was around.
