The HP/X-Men fic, tentatively named Chimaera is over with fyreworks for a beta.

I think I might have mentioned that action scenes frighten me and that I'm using short fics to procrastinate. That is still true. ;) Which is probably why I'm contemplating snagging luciademedici's Guess-the-Quote meme. I know, however, that Mortongirl will whup my heinie if I don't have ( Read more... )

Kat?

I am being tormented by a very scary (or sweet, depending on your POV)thought.

Jean tried to make things write for Scott (and Richard, Clark and Lois) by making Scott! Richard, right?

who's to say she didn't the same thing for Jason Stryker by reincarnating him in Jason Lane White?

First and foremost, because that would WAY too big a headache for me to write. *LOL*

Secondly, Jean/Phoenix didn't come back until maybe the end of summer. X2 happened around spring (foilage in New York but Snow in Northern Alberta; don't care WHAT the media says there's not that much snow in the north in the summer). At the end of X3, Ororo was welcoming kids back to the school. So, Jason Stryker would have been a rotting corpse for at least three months already.

Jean-in-the-Lake couldn't have done anything because, well, she was busy being in a coma.

But, I think most importantly, Jason Stryker dind't mean as much to her as Scott did. Shifting minds can't be that easy or everyone would do it it'll lose its effectiveness in terms of story-telling.

So set your mind at ease, there will not be a mind-bending Jason on top of a super-strong, X-ray-visioned, laser-eyed, arctic-breathed Jason.

Also, did I mention the headache in writing? ;)

I know it would be. It was just a freaky, freaky idea. I don't know how powerful Jean is in movieverse (well ok, I know she can atomize folks) but if she eventually learns God-like ominpresience and can alter reality and space and time, etc, etc..

But as you say, going there in this verse would be a headache. I was thinking about it because I was considering Jason Stryker, the life he'd had---and found it odd that Bryan chose to give the same first name to Jason Lane White: another incredibly powerful child, but with not just two, but three V. good parents, if not the best parents ever. And well, if Jean's story, the Phoenix story is about love and redemption, who's to say she wouldn't try to make that happen for someone else?

But as you say, headache. :D

It's certainly a VERY interesting premise. Jean really *is* the type to try to save the whole world as can be seen by the many many times she's died to save the world. As to the name Jason, I might be reading too much into it but it does come from the legend of Jason and the Argonauts. It's kind of like naming your kid Boromir, destined for greatness and failure. ;)

I think minisinoo has her reviving a months old dead body in her fic Grail. But Min (a) is a much better writer than me and (b) planned that from the beginning. The Phoenix Alternative is a plotbunny that ran away with me *shakes fist weakly*
