Stereo Failure
Drinks at Heidi's last night was good, and it would have been a good party if it weren't for the failure of the stereo when we we just getting into the thrashing around. Just as well this didn't happen a week later at the Dictator's Official Birthday Party, and Heidi will get another go at a party.
As for the fault, it's the speakers. It would have been better if it was the cable, but at least it's not my beautiful amp. I really doubt it's the cones (we would have heard it), so I suspect we've burned out the internal speaker wiring or componentry somewhere. Currently, I have the amp connected up to the speakers from my old boombox, obviously I can't turn it up high like this, but I have sound anyway.
It's a bit perplexing, given that the manual calls for speakers rated at 6 ohms or more, and these are 8. They should have been able to handle the output. Maybe it was just an old capacitor or something.
Thanks to Cameron for carting my stuff back from Heidi's this afternoon, and a big thanks to thehollowmen for biking all over town picking up bits to try and get it to go. I know how he hates to be taken advantage of in the transportation stakes.
