On Friday I tried the MacBook Air. Holy Awesomtastic!! This is 90% of the way to my ideal laptop. It is light, has no CD drive, an LED screen, and a very nice backlit keyboard. I can't afford the model with solid state memory though (and the performance increase is slight).
The one thing the Air lacks is FireWire. I use a FireWire audio interface to record music. Windows has issues with the drivers and often (more often than not) does not recognize the audio interface. Apple uses a generic driver based on the interface chip, so this shouldn't be an issue. Also Apple has better support for FireWire in general.
The Air costs alomst as much as the Pro model, which is considerably more powerful. And the Pro has FireWire.
I can afford to buy one, but if I don't get anymore paychecks before July, I will not be able to go to Comicon. Though, that is a rather unlikely scenario.
