Last Saturday, I made plans to go to the beach with my friend Amanda, who's visiting from Texas. Seeing this as a way to get my students' some pretty cool American-life exposure, I invited Naoko, Asuka, and Saki to join us. Being a little pressed for time, we chose Horseneck State Beach as our destination. Even though the weather report called for temps in the low-80s and chances of scattered t-storms throughout the day, we took our chances anyway. And the payoff was worth the gamble... perfect beach day, not a cloud in the sky and the water was actually warmer than what I was used to. Great waves, too.
Saki
Asuka
Naoko
no clue why these are planted in formation
haha, the girls built a castle in my honor... and then... smashed it... in my honor?
This was about as far as Naoko would go
We were all pretty good at frisbee, especially when you consider that this was their first time playing
aww, the lovely ladies of our beach excursion
omega-sized waves... kakui!!
Saki got brave and decided to join me out in the waist-high water
meh, I just like this photo
They were determined to find some beach critters
and yes... we all got sunburned. I'm in the itchy-peeling phase already. Oh Haruhi, does it itch!!! Oh well, well worth it.
