This is from a post by
0bratja0 about people's interests and chose some of my interests to talk about ^^ So basically, if you comment I'll choose 6 of your interests to talk about too.
dr who
Oh yes, Dr Who, well, what's not interesting about Dr Who? Well, I never really knew much about Dr Who when I was little but I remember watching one of the really old ones, a film as well if I remember rightly, and I'd enjoyed it but didn't bother to find out more. But then the BBC decided to start it up again and I decided to watch and I fell in love with it ^^ Then I was devastated that after just one series they changed the Dr XDD But then I liked David Tennant too, so it's ok. Anyway, I've been following the new Dr Who and think it's amazing, and then led me to watching Torchwood too. Unfortunatly I haven't watched any old ones though and I'm also worried that if I did I'd spend all the time laughing at the special effects, so maybe that's a good thing ^^
greek mythology
Well, this starts from when I was in primary school and we learnt about Ancient Greece and I quickly fell in love with them, it was fascinating, but I was more interested in their gods and goddesses than anything else, they had so many (Athena was always my favourite) Ever since then I've been interested in greek mythology, they just believed so much stuff it's amazing, so I love reading about anything mythological ^^
his dark materials
I just love this series ^^ His Dark Materials is made up of Northern Lights (The Golden Compass), The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. This trilogy really is fascinating, I know there's a lot of anti-religion in them, but at the same time it's condemning the bad practices of churches as opposed to the good side. But I love them because they're really well written stories and they really hook you in, I've always been a fan of fantasy stories, but these really are the best, I loved the daemons best, having an animal representing your inner personality and never being alone was just great, naturally I've wanted one ever since ^^ But the many-worlds theory, it's just something I want to believe in, different universes.
japan
I wonder where my interest in Japan came from...oh yes, it was Pokemon XDD I loved Pokemon and Digimon and Card Captors, I didn't realise they were Japanese animation at first, I'm not sure when or how I found out, but once I did I naturally wanted to watch more and the more I watched then the more I've become interested in Japanese culture and the country itself. It's not really original, but it is anime's fault that I love Japan and want to find out more, but even as a child I remember reading my children's atlas (I still read it, it's amazing ^^) and finding out about the shichi-go-san festival where Japanese children visit shrines and just wishing I could go once and join in since we don't have anything like that, so maybe my interest in Japan isn't so surprising after all, maybe anime isn't fully to blame, but who can tell? ^^
languages
This is pretty simple, I just like learning languages ^^ I was good at French at school, I found I picked it pretty quickly and I liked learning Spanish too, though I wasn't very good because we rushed through it too fast, but even though I can't remember any Spanish at all now (and kept mixing it up with French) I still used to do well in tests which I could never work out since I used to just memorise whole chapters 5 minutes beforehand ^^ But I do like learning new languages and words, anything really, I guess it's just because I can pick stuff up quite easily.
sandstone
ROFL This is a stupid interest. It's from learning about different types of rock at school and I just happened to like sandstone more than the others, mostly because of it's nice red colour. Also in the Redwall books Redwall itself was made of sandstone, so that has something to do with it too. It's not really an interest I just happen to like it as a rock. It's better than limestone, I could never like limestone, it was boring, it wasn't red ^^
BONUS: vampires
This is another ancient interest of mine dating back to when I was little. Vampires were always my favourite mythical creature, I like werewolves too, but I liked vampires more, I'm not sure where the appeal for pale, evening dress wearing, blood-sucking parasites came from, but I liked the turning into a bat thing and other forms of transformation, I also saw no problem with ripping out people's throats, bloodthirsty child that I was XDD Part of it is also to do with a book (they really influence my interests a lot ^^) called "How to be a vampire" about a kid who turned into a vampire and had to learn all about it and I found it fascinating and to be truthful, I'd hoped it would happen to me. I still like vampires though I don't still wish for someone to come along and bite my neck, I wouldn't be too impressed if someone tried ^^
So yeah, that's where all of my interests come from, strange as they may or may not be ^^
