Sad news...

So a few days ago my grandma suspected that she may have had a stroke. She, being a strong Burgess woman, didn't say anything at the time. It wasn't until she couldn't feel anything on her left side that she decided to go into the doctor. She went in for tests on Tuesday and they confirmed that she had indeed had a stroke. Yesterday she went back into the doctors for more tests when they discovered she had bleeding in her BRAIN! She was admitted into the hospital around 8pm and her blood pressure went out of wack and she was unable to see out of one eye.

I guess my mom kept insisting that it was her blood sugar and after they finally gave Grandma some orange juice to level out her blood sugar her blood pressure went down too.

I have not heard much than that. I guess the bleeding in her brain did stop. My mom was with her all day today. She is still in ICU and groggy. Mom and Uncle Jimmy are trying to get Grandma's bedroom cleaned out (because if you know any Burgess women, we are not good at throwing things out...we collect!) and also taking her regular bed out and putting the Craftmatic in there.

I am going home this weekend to help with all of it. I also want to see my Grandma. I don't want what happened with Linda to happen with her. I kept saying I was going to come home to visit her but when I did, it was already too late.

I want my grandma to get better, but it is hard to have high hopes. My mom said that the doctors were hopeful and that she will be able to come home soon. But it was also mentioned that she is very susceptible to another stroke. I am scarred for her.

By the way, Chris has been very helpful and supportive for not just me, but my mom as well. This is the second time she has called him crying about a family member.

sick, sad, scary, grandma
