Xena come in their apartment, holding Snake for a shoulder and set him on a couch. Snake tried to protest, but she forced him to stay there. Then she turned to Greek guests who examined their house with obvious interest ( Read more... )

Gabrielle was curious about the object that Xena held in her hand. She could tell it bothered her from her body language, but she wouldn't press.

A small smile tilted the edges of her lips as she looked up at her best friend. "He didn't offend me, Xena. I understand that he thought Hercules was a different Hercules and I probably would have reacted the same way at first." Her eyes turned serious, "He just has to realize that it's not up to Hercules to make up for the pain the other one caused."

Snake sat down on the couch where Xena had left him and poured himself a drink. He was about to offer one to the others when he remembered the reaction the other Greeks had to his choice. Noticing Xena was getting out wine he didn't feel so rude by drinking. Leaning back on the couch he watched the others milling in the apartment. He needede a moment to calm down, take in everything and deal with the pain still burning in his head.

Gabrielle's words forced Xena to recollect her conversation with Trinity, and now she looked at a situation on the other hand. What, if Trinity was right, and this world has set of other variations which, perhaps, almost do not differ from each other? And if this theory is valid why to not exist to several variants of the same person?
This idea excited Xena for some reason, and she sat on a chair, tapping with fingers on a table. If it so, it is quite possible, that double of Hercules or even hers lives somewhere in the other world and time, has friends... makes feats, battles...falls in love... has a life. As well as she. And this Herc or this Xena even does not suspect that he/she is just copy of other person.
Here her reflections have stopped, and Xena run fingers through hair, having felt easy dizziness.
What if she is a copy, too? A copy which thinks, what she is original ( ... )

Gabrielle shook her head sadly, "Snake said that the girl hated the other Hercules believing he killed her family. I wouldn't put him through the pain of seeing hatred in a daughter's eyes, even if it's not his daughter. She spoke softly, her own pain too close to the surface. Her gaze slid over to Snake and his obvious pain and wondered if whatever price he paid was worth it.

Iolaus stood beside Hercules in a corner of the living quarters. Herc seemed perfectly at ease but Iolaus felt completely out of place. It wasn't so much that the furnishings and objects surrounding them were strange and unfamiliar (which they were) as much as feeling completely awkward and out of place.

Autolycus, on the other hand, seemed to be fascinated by his surroundings. In fact, he had a peculiar gleam in his eyes that could mean only one thing.

Iolaus laid a hand on Autolycus' shoulder. "Whatever it is you're coveting -- don't," he warned in a quiet undertone while Xena and Gabrielle carried on their discussion across the room.

Autolycus looked over his shoulder and glared at Iolaus. "I wasn't." The lie fell easily from his lips, but it was the truth as far as he was willing to go. He wasn't going to steal anything then. He was just looking.

"You're window shopping."

Snake turned and looked at Autolycus with diappointment. You do more then window shop and I'll take fingers.

He frowned. I hear that's what the thieves do around here when their own starts getting too light fingered.

There was a bit of a devioius smirk in Snake's expression. He wasn't exactly serioius but it wasn't a joke either.

Cyrene smiled at Iolaus, having put on a table last plate with moussaka .
The dishes ordered at restaurant, belonged, basically, to the Greek cuisine, though, from Cyrene's point of view, some of them have been prepared oddly, for example, her favorite salmon and leek phyllo pie, but she tactfully kept silent, having decided to not afflict her daughter in such day.
She approached to Iolaus having moved a plate with pork and beans, closer to him.
What will you eat? Pork or, perhaps, lamb with rice pilaf?

"He'll probably eat all of it if you're not careful," teased Hercules as he joined them at the table. "The one thing that never changes about Iolaus is his appetite."

So it is just wonderful!
Cyrene burst out laughing, pouring wine to Hercules and Iolaus.
As the tavern-keeper, I adore people with good appetite.

She looked back to call Snake and Xena to join them, but has seen, Snake has left a room, holding in hand small black device.
Unless he does not want to join us?
She asked the daughter.
Snake will back soon.
Xena shrugged, not knowing how to explain to mother what is "phone".
As soon as he will stop to talk to his friend...
Cyrene looked at Xena some time, then said silently
I see, people here have strange tradition to talk to boxes...

Autolycus took a seat at the table, already cataloging what would be worth taking from this time and what wouldn't. He would leave the talking boxes alone, they didn't seem to have much value. He wondered if there were jewels in this time, those were always valuable.

"Hey leave some for me will ya." He teased Iolaus as he reached for a plate that Cyrene was handing him.
