Femslashex Letter 2014
Hello! If you're reading this, you are probably interested in writing fic for one of the many femslash pairings I feel the world needs more of, so thank you! That's pretty awesome of you.
I'm afraid I'm a terribly lazy person, so I'm just going to recycle the following paragraph from last year's letter:
General likes and dislikes: I would like for something to happen in the fic besides introspection, but I'm not overly picky about what that something is. Some kind of actiony/adventure-y/casefic plot, fluff where they're on a date or something, smut, it's all good. (Well, for certain pairings some of these work better than others, but you know what I mean.) I would rather not have noncon, dubcon, or abuse, but I am fine with relationships that are kind of fucked up as long as both parties are equal contributors to the relationship's fucked-up-ness. I'm also okay with tragedy (she says, looking at the number of pairings she requested where at least one party dies in canon*), but I am not averse to a fluffy fix-it fic now and again, either. I'm not big on mundane AUs (e.g. high school, coffee shop), but I'm all for canon divergence AUs or AUs where people are magical girls/space marines/noir detectives/cyberpunk hackers/whatever.
* I love how this still applies even though I'm requesting an almost completely different set of pairings from last year. I think I have a problem.
Ace Attorney - Lana/Mia, Aura/Metis, Franziska/Ema, Trucy/Pearl
So, I guess I have a thing for tragic Ace Attorney femslash ships where one of them is dead long before you even meet the other? Thanks, Ace Attorney, thanks a lot.
But anyway, Lana and Mia! They totally had a thing in law school, so if you want to write me something about their passionate intellectual attraction and long nights of studying together, I'm totally up for it. Or something about their early careers! Did they ever have to go up against each other in court?
As for Aura and Metis, I would really love anything about their adventures in mad science and robot co-parenting.
Sadder stuff for either of these is fine, I'd just rather it not be all about one sitting around feeling depressed because the other one's dead or anything like that.
On to somewhat happier pairings! Franziska and Ema may not have exactly met, but I think they have a lot of potential in being cranky at each other while secretly respecting each other's intelligence and sort of grudgingly bonding over being surrounded by idiots. This could definitely lend itself to something caseficcy where Ema has to help Franziska with an investigation, but if you just want to write about them going on the world's most tsundere date or something, that's also cool.
And Trucy and Pearl just seems like it could be adorable! Pearl's a little shy and probably hasn't had much chance to have a normal childhood/adolescence or hang out with people her own age, and Trucy's more bubbly and would probably be only too happy to drag Pearl along on adventures, and on a slightly deeper level I think they could relate to each other ... I don't know, I didn't have anything really specific in mind, but I saw them as an option on the signups and thought the idea was cute.
Bubblegum Crisis - Priss/Sylia, Priss/Sylvie, Anri/Sylvie
I like Priss/Sylia because they're really the only two of the Knight Sabers who seem like friends to me rather than co-workers (co-vigilantes?) who put up with each other out of necessity. It's understated, because neither is a particularly touchy-feely person, but it seemed to me like they had each other's backs off the battlefield as well as on, and I liked that dynamic.
Sylvie/Anri have the whole "you and me against the world" vibe--they're all each other has left, they've been through a lot, they're fully willing to kill for each other and die for each other. It's not, you know, the healthiest thing, but it's delightfully intense.
Priss and Sylvie obviously didn't know each other nearly as well or for as long, but they formed a deep attachment very, very quickly. I think in a way, their relationship was filling a desire for normalcy for both of them, something separate from the crazy shit taking up the bulk of their lives. Until it turned out not to be so separate, oops.
I am also down for Priss/Sylvie/Anri, if that's something you're interested in.
I'm not really good at specific prompts, but I'm really down for anything--post-canon action-y mission fic for Priss/Sylia, backstory for Sylvie and Anri, between-the-lines-of-canon stuff about Sylvie and Anri's short time on Earth together or that one episode where Priss and Sylvie were totally dating, AU where Sylvie and/or Anri survives and then has to figure out where to go from there... seriously, anything. There is not exactly a wealth of existing fic to choose from here.
(tl;dr I have more feelings about not!Power Rangers and lesbian vampire superweapon sexbots from a cheesy '80s anime than anyone really should.)
Fate/stay night and related fandoms - Rin/Saber, Sakura/Rider, Saber/Irisviel
Rin and Saber are both strong-willed and they may clash sometimes, but in the end they work pretty well together, and under less stressful circumstances, maybe they could even, you know, relax and have fun together! I'd be happy with something set during canon for them, but post-UBW Good End fic would also be really fun--could be something with the two of them going off to the Clock Tower, maybe some new supernatural shenanigans crop up that they have to deal with, or maybe they just finally get to go on a normal date, whatever. (I don't especially care what you do with Shirou in this scenario, but would prefer that he not be involved too heavily.)
Sakura/Rider was weirdly sweet, given the circumstances; they really seemed to care about each other. And Sakura... really has not had a lot of people in her life who have her best interests at heart, and Rider, prior to becoming a Heroic Spirit, didn't have the best luck with that either, so it's nice that they now have each other! I would love post-canon fic for them too; they're both going to have a lot of adjusting to do after the Grail War, which could be interesting to explore, and if you're not interested in doing something too fluffy or introspective there is always the possibility of Weird Magical Shit Going Down for them too.
For Saber/Irisviel, I love Saber's loyalty to Iri and the whole knight/lady dynamic and how much they support and rely on each other in general. I'm fine with either fic set during canon as it is or in an AU where things play out differently. I am not particularly fussed about how you handle Iri's marriage (I can't get too worked up about infidelity to an already unfaithful spouse--though hey, maybe they have an understanding?), but if you'd rather write an AU where rocks fall and Kiritsugu dies or something, that's fine with me too. (Actually, something where Kiritsugu is out of the picture for whatever reason and Iri really is Saber's master could be interesting!)
The Count of Monte Cristo - Eugénie/Louise
Okay, so this was kind of a last-minute nom on my part, but I read the book for the first time last summer and was totally charmed by Eugénie and Louise, and since there's not all that much of them, especially not together, there's plenty of room for fic. I would love to read about their future adventures involving music and possibly crossdressing, but any kind of backstory on their relationship or stuff set during the events of the book would also be awesome!
... Sorry, this is so short compared to the other entries, but I only have one pairing to talk about, so.
Sakura Wars - Sumire/Kanna, Kanna/Maria, Kohran/Orihime
Ah, Sakura Wars. It's kind of a ridiculous series, and it's been years since I was actively involved with what fandom there is, but it is forever the tiny fandom of my heart.
I'm fine with either anime-based or game-based fic; I've only read four volumes of the manga, but I don't think it deviates too badly plot- or characterization-wise, so if that's the iteration of canon you're familiar with, that works too. (No, I'm not desperate, why do you ask?)
Sumire and Kanna have great slap/slap/kiss potential--they're always sniping at each other and I don't think they'd admit to any ~feelings~ except under extreme duress, but underneath it all they really do care and are there for each other when it counts.
Kanna and Maria, meanwhile, are more friendly with each other, and Maria's just so uptight and filled with deep Russian angst that she could really use someone as chill as Kanna to help her lighten up and have some fun in life, and maybe also punch bears.
Kohran/Orihime is a weird tiny ship in an already tiny fandom, but there was the one episode in the second OAV where the two of them are trapped in the tenements and have to work together whether they like it or not, and ever since then I've felt like they had potential. And they have a duet! It's cute. They're a bit antagonistic as well, but unlike with Sumire/Kanna, Kohran isn't trying to antagonize Orihime, she's just... Kohran and doesn't really realize that people don't tend to like it if you blow up their prized possessions, even if you were trying to improve them. And so Orihime is just like "what are you doing, you weirdo?" But again, when it comes down to it, they work pretty well together. (This paragraph is longer than the others not because I care more about this pairing than the other two, but because the other two are ships that people other than me actually ship, and so I don't feel like I have to work as hard to justify them.)
I don't really have specific plot ideas here, but, I mean, it's Sakura Wars, anything goes, really. Cute dates, giant monster attacks, cute dates interrupted by giant monster attacks, theatrical shenanigans where the characters have to play romantic leads opposite each other and then the performance is interrupted by a giant monster attack... you know, business as usual.
