If I could find you now things would get better
We could leave this town and run forever
I know somewhere, somehow we'll be together

He would be leaving in two days. She turned over in her bed, still in her pajamas although it was way past noon. Let him go El.. She told herself as she pulled the sheet up to her neck. She looked out the window from her bed, it was a beautiful day out...it would have been perfect for the beach, with Jay. She closed her eyes, but sleep did not come, this is what has been keeping her up at night lately. Finally, things feel right and now he would be leaving in a matter of days.

Ellie now laid on her back and stared at the ceiling. What was she doing? How could she just let him go. He's been on her mind ever since last week when he picked her up in Montreal. She sat up and got out of bed, dressing quickly in a simple pair of jeans and a black shirt. She quickly fixed her hair and put on some eyeliner.

She didn't bother to grab her purse. Ellie walked out and quickly got to Jay's house. His mother answered and told Ellie that Jay was upstairs.

Nervous, she knocked on the door.

"Its open!" Jay called from the room. Ellie walked in and shut the door behind her quietly. "I said its op-" Jay looked up from the boxes he was packing. It was a horrible site. The walls of his room were now bare and the only things in the room were the cluttered boxes and furniture too big to send to California. "Oh..hey Ellie." He stopped what he was doing to give her a hug. She hugged him back and closed her eyes. She was trying to put her words togehter before she spoke. Jay pulled back and smoothed her hair. "What's going on?" He asked.

She was never this straightforward with anyone, but how else would he know how she felt? She bit her lip. "You- can't go.." It was not exactly how she wanted it to come out.

"What are you talking about El? This is my big shot, I'm finally gonna do something with my life." He brought her with him to sit on the bed.

Ellie held her hands nervously, "I'm going to miss you."

"We'll keep in touch," he assured her.

"No..I mean," she sighed, this was harder than she thought. "I like you...alot." She looked at him, hoping for some reassurance.

"El...It wouldn't be fair to you, I'm leaving for California on Tuesday." She looked down. He continued. "Its not like I don't want to be with you-"

"We-we could at least try." She was fighting a losing battle.

"No, we can't. It wouldn't work out that way," he sighed. He really liked Ellie, but he was leaving Canada and he would be living in California now.

A tear fell from her face. He wiped it off. "El-" he didn't like to see her upset.

She got up and wiped another tear from her cheek. "Write me okay?" She walked to the door and opened it, closing it behind her.

"Fuck" he said to himself silently and laid back in his bed putting his hands behind his head. Ellie was wonderful, he didn't want to hurt her.

Ellie walked home and took a long bath, hoping that what just happened, didn't.Let him go El.
