The Evolution of The 69 Eyes

Jul 09, 2006 11:30

Motor City Resurrection is the first album by The 69 Eyes, and to be perfectly honest... they sound like an entirely different band.

Over the period of a year they go from classic 80's Hanoi Rocks style sleaze with songs like Mrs. Sleazy and Stop Bitching! to gothic rock sounding disturbingly similar to Type O Negative.

How did Juicy Lucy come from the same band who perform Graveland? Framed In Blonde? Stigmata?

Where the hell did this change come from? When did the hissing, shrieking, 80's punk/glam vocals turn into the deep growl? When did tinkling jazz pianos turn into synth gothicism?

I get the sincere feeling I'm missing something here.

Are 69 Eyes and THE 69 Eyes two different bands?

Where the fuck did the 'The' come from?! O_O

SOMEONE HELP ME BEFORE I CRY.

Oh, and when did Jussi turn from a terrifying little frizzy haired runt into a sexy leathered drum god?

When did Jyrki turn from a slogan t-shirt wearing long haired skinny dude into the weight lifting gothic Cher we know today?

My world has been turned upside down.

Howl.

The only way I can explain... is that they are influenced so heavily by the music they listen to, that when suddenly they decided to fangirl that gothic Lurch known as Peter Steel, Andy Mcoy got chucked out of the window.

But still..

Howl.
