let me begin this entry with...WTF!? seriously!? we get home around 11:40--everything has functioned beautifully and as according to plans/schedule...k? K! mykel opens the door and the alarm is going off. --it wont stop. it's a very loud alarm and it hurts to stand 2 rooms away from it let alone in the same hallway which we HAVE to walk through to get into the rest of the house... but who cares right?! the alarm's going off--woopidy doo dah!? my mom, after mykel, then walks in and discovers we have a bit of a leak. THE LAUNDRY ROOM IS FLOODED AND THE CEILING IS CAVING IN! wow--that sux...but wait! there's MORE! the brand new bathroom...the pretty one? *nods* yeah, the pretty one...is absolutely ruined as well...not to mention there are holes in the ceiling there too! plus! where the water leaked, is now orangey from the rusted well water we have...so when i say ruined...i definitely mean ruined. great huh?! hold up--not finished yet. ok, so far we have the laundry room, with about an inch of standing water on the floor and the drawers literally full of water, and the brand new bathroom is orange and leaking mass amounts of water from the ceiling fans as well as light fictures...got it? good! let's move on. (keep in mind the alarm is still going nuts) i take a look upstairs to see what's going on --since the water is coming from that direction-- and discover that the entire carpet in front of mom's toilet room is ruined and rusted...not to mention soaking wet; on top of that, the toilet is spewing water from a busted pipe on its right side at a VERY rapid rate. i hold onto mykel's ankles and keep him steady--as if to protect him from falling through the already almost caved in floor--as he shuts off the furiously spouting pipe. WHEW! not yet ladies and gentlemen...not yet. there's one more place to look...downstairs. YOU GUESSED IT!? That's flooded too! silver, the oldest dog of the family, lives in a small secluded room off to the back of the basement with his food and water and access through a dog door to the outdoors. i go to look for him...and the carpet isn't so much carpet as it is a puddle. my shoes could have been covered in water. there were atleast 2-3 inches of standing water in the basement. not to mention we've been gone for four days so the dog's food has been soggy and not edible for however long this leak had been going on. AND, just incase we thought we were safe and just a little wet, our electrical boxes and circuit boards are being rained on...no...better yet, a small waterfall is rushing cold rusty water over them from the flooded rooms above. NOT joking. so it is now 3:45 in the morning and i am staying up to make sure the house doesn't explode...and if it were to, i am to be up to save the other members of my most immediate family. sound like a neat, calm, relaxing return home? *nods* i thought so too! btw i left out plenty...but i figured in all of my rage and fury that should suffice for now...not to mention my mom is supposed to be getting divorced, finally, today. this is a bit of a hard week for her.
