Decided to crawl away from tumblr for a bit to give an update on my personal life.
Looks like I'll be back in the warm bosom of academia by the 17th! At least, as far as my major goes...
To make this as brief as possible, I've decided to pursue a bachelor's in History with a Education minor. ETSU apparently got everything they needed for me to start back but in the rush to get all the paperwork done and ye ol' Holiday Havoc, I had forgotten that there was a grade requirement to get into the teaching program. So I had a choice: either I could send for my SAT score and pay $30 (USD) then wait up to five weeks for it to be mailed, or call up my old high school and put in a request to have my transcript sent in roughly two business days. Choosing the later because I am both poor and really needed that shit to get there fast, I decided to request a transcript from Union-formerly known as Powell Valley-High and end up having to pay $2. I also found out that the person who handles transcript requests only goes up to the freakin' school board offices on Monday. But two bucks is better than thirty fucking dollars, so I give them the information to have it mailed to ETSU's Education Department and my mother kindly mailed in a money order for me on the 20th of December. Three days later, I get a call back from the High School Formerly Known As Powell Valley to be informed that they had picked up my transcript but hadn't gotten the payment. Annoying but understandable due to the holidays, so I let them know that the payment had been sent and should be there before the end of the week.
Fast forward to the third of January, with me having a small scale freak-out because I still hadn't heard back from either HSFKAPV or my Education adviser. Turns out that my payment had just been received that day but the school couldn't send it because the one person who presumably is authorized to handle transcripts and the mailing of won't be in till this coming Monday. Orientation for the Spring semester is Tuesday. I'm just a bit annoyed by this. I literally had less trouble getting my college transcript and I can say that the person I dealt with at VI was much nicer about it that the one from Union.
On an up-note, while looking up what classes I needed to take for my major, I noticed that the History Department's
page has their last date updated done according to when Rome was founded. That is an oddly reassuring little tidbit for me.
