"Careful", they said, as I walked through the first snow.
Later, it melted into the sidewalk.
The cement was wet for many hours, drying from the center first, and later the corners and cracks.
Bits of trash blew around, but some were stuck, or mixed with late-falling leaves.
The wind wasn't strong, but blew in rivulets and eddies in the crevices of the day.
Intricate spirals and unseen gyroscopes held everything in a gentle balance.
Fast, sharp, clear lines beneath the surface...
and slow broad strokes--a dotted line, and the pull of a divine spirograph
Yes, I had told them, I will be careful.
My walk through the first snow had ended.
