The third year of residency has begun.
I'm in a new office, and I will be here for the next 6 months. It's quite small and windowless, but larger than my dorm room freshman year of college. I have a desk, a filing cabinet, two shelves up and to my right, two small chairs to my left angled toward each other, and a squishy red arm chair directly in front of my desk.
Unlike the multi-purpose nature of the offices I had throughout my second year, this office is just mine to have with my patients. I'm committed to cleaning it up and making it a bit more...friendly. The color is an ill-appearing grey-green, with scuffs on the walls that resemble bruises. The red arm chair doesn't clash as badly as you would think.
Yesterday was the Fourth of July. Mom and dad visited, and we had crabs, sat on the deck and watched fireworks, made some potato salad and dessert. Something strange happened to the whipped cream, I'm not sure what to make of it, but it wasn't as good as it should have been.
I anticipate I will have more time for thinking and writing during the next 6 months, and I'm really looking forward to that. I'll also be studying for STEP 3, which I will likely take in September. The least important things are most easily forgotten, so we'll see how some of the practice tests go.
I continue to run. I think of grandma often; she's so missed. I wish I was going to Pensacola soon. I wish I was going to the cabin soon. I wish my brother would visit soon.
