Zutara Week, Day Two: Electrifying

Jul 07, 2008 19:21

Here's day two's standalone for those who want to read it! :D

Zuko looked out the window glumly. It was raining,

"Zuko, come on! You promised me you'd dance with me in the rain next time it happened!" Katara said, tugging on Zuko's arm

"Ugh," he replied. "I hate rain."

"Zuko," Katara threatened, "don't make me bend you out there."

Zuko sighed and gave in, allowing Katara to drag him outside and twirl him around.

Katara looked around for a minute. "Oh, dear... I hope it isn't a thunderstorm... You know how scared I get..." She looked at Zuko, her eyes noticably filled with fear.

"Don't worry, darling," he said, kissing her tenderly. "It'll be okay."

"I know," Katara giggled as she was twirled around.

A bolt of lightning struck in the distance, causing Katara to flinch. Zuko wrapped his arms around her protectively, knowing how scared of thunderstorms she was.

Another bolt struck, this time a bit closer.

"Electrifying!" Zuko said, trying to get Katara to laugh a bit. It worked, her giggles muffled by Zuko's shirt.

After a few minutes, Katara looked up at him, her eyes telling him that she was ready to resume dancing.

Zuko twirled her around as she giggled. The danced for another twenty minutes until the thunder was really really close.

Katara stopped suddenly. "Zuko," she said quietly and fearfully. "I'm scared." She started crying out of fear.

Zuko gathered her in his arms, comforting her. "I'll always be here for you, to protect you. I promise."

"Oh, Zuko," she said, giving him a kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too," he said sincerely, hugging her tightly.
