I have been slacking so bad on Idol discussion. I know. I am sorry. For some reason, I'm not obsessed with this season. I mean, I'll talk about it, and I have favorites, and there are people I don't like, but I'm finding it hard to take the extra effort to write in here about it, and even to vote. Like, I didn't vote last night. And I didn't vote last week. Isn't that ridiculous? Bah. I am so ashamed. :(
But anyways, I do want to talk about last night's episode. I really thought it was a good one!
Starting off with Luke Menard. Okay, I have thought he should go home since the first week of Top 24. And, like, I feel bad, because he seems like a REALLY nice guy. He reminds me of Bucky in that sense. I really dug Bucky as a person, but I thought he should go home almost immediately. So yeah. I thought he chose a good song ("Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"), but he just isn't at the level of the other contestants. He did okay with it, though. Sorry to say, I think he should go home tomorrow.
Next, David Archuleta. I give him a huge amount of Awesome Points for not choosing the song that (I think) would have been way expected: Against All Odds. Seriously, when Ryan said he was singing a Phil Collins song, my mom and I were both like "Yeah, he's definitely doing that one." It would have fit, you know? The whole "Take a look at me now--I'm a young kid but I am the obvious frontrunner of this competition!" And I LOVE David, and he probably would have done a really great job with it, but I wouldn't want him to do something so cliche (I mean, it's a good song and all, but for American Idol, it's kind of corny!). Anyways, I thought he did really well! He always does really well. It ("Another Day In Paradise") was a great song for him. I didn't think he did as well as he did last week, but he is still (in my opinion) the most talented guy in the competition. So YAY! He better be safe, or I will be so mad at myself for not voting.
Third up is Danny Noriega. I LOVE DANNY. Seriously, he is just so...fun! My mom and I can't last through two seconds of him being on without smiling our faces off. We both love him. He is so great. He sang "Tainted Love" which made me all excited because I love that song. I thought it was a great choice. And I thought he did great with it. It wasn't like, "WOW, WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE, I AM SPEECHLESS" or anything, but it was really great. And I love him. Again, he better be safe, or I will be sad.
Fourth is David Hernandez. Again, I don't think this was as good as last week, but he still did well. I love the song he sang ("It's All Coming Back To Me Now") but I was a little puzzled by it. Ah well, I like him. He isn't one of my absolute favorites, but I think he deserves to be in the competition for a while longer. He's really talented. Also, I felt so sad to hear about the stripper stuff. I saw it on some show last night and man, that really sucks. Poor guy. They were saying it could possibly interfere with him being on the show--why? I mean, I get that being a stripper is not exactly the most respectable career in the world, but it's not like he was a convicted sex offender or anything. You know? Maybe I don't know the whole story, but I think if they kick him off because he used to be a stripper, then Idol is just stupid.
Next, Michael Johns, because something weird happened with David Cook's guitar or something. Michael Johns rules. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the song choice ("Don't You Forget About Me"). It was absolutely PERFECT. Not only do I love the song, but it was just great for him, and fjdsklfajs. I love him. However, I am now at a moral crossroads. See, I love Michael. He is really, really, really good-looking, and he reminds me a little bit of Constantine. But...I know he doesn't have the best vocals in the competition. Like, I totally agree with Simon: he hasn't had "his moment." I'm really hoping it comes soon. It's getting hard for my only comment after his performances to be, "WOW, he is CUTE." I mean, he is an awesome singer, totally, and he's a super-awesome performer. It's just...bahh. I don't know. If I didn't think he was so cute, I wouldn't like him nearly as much as I do. You know? :( So it makes me feel bad. Regardless, I really hope he stays this week. I think he did great with the song he chose. And he's still one of my favorites. I just really hope he steps it up!
Now for David Cook. BAHH. It's so lame. I still have this thing in my mind that prevents me from liking him. And I know it's because they keep comparing him to Chris Daughtry. I wish they'd stop. Don't they think of the people who, like me, cannot even hear Chris Daughtry's name without growling and repeating it back in a sneering voice that one uses to mockingly address a bitter rival (Chris Daaaaauuuuuggghhhtrrrryyy)? I mean, UGH. CHRIS DAUGHTRY. HE IS JUST. UGH. But this isn't about Chris Daughtry. This is about David Cook. Oh! No, I do have SOME justification in not liking him--he totally talked back to Simon last week. And that is way lame. Hah, David Cook! You are arrogant, just like I thought! ...I am a pathetic human being. Okay okay okay, enough. On to his performance. I...I don't know. I didn't like it. I get that he totally changed the song, and I get that he made it all modern, and I get that it was way unique and he made it his own, etc. But my mom and I both though it was kinda lame, and we were absolutely CERTAIN that Simon would tear into him. And then Simon was all like "LOVED IT" and we were like "WTF?!" But...whatever. It wasn't that bad. It was okay, I guess. I'm just bothered by him, so unless he does really, really well, I can't bring myself to enjoy his performances. But, as I said a few weeks ago, he'll get through because he's a rocker. Like Daaaaauuuugggghhhtrrryyyy. Ugh.
Now that I'm all grumpy, I will move on to Jason Castro. I really love Jason as a musician. I always think he does well. When he came on and sang the first line of "Hallelujah", my heart jumped into my throat and I ran to the television. My mom was like, "Oh boy." I LOVE "Hallelujah." It is one of my favorite songs OF ALL TIME. I think it is one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking, unbelievably amazing songs that has ever existed. I seriously loved Jason 10000000x more just because he chose to sing it. Not only that, but I thought he did a really, really great job with it. Some people are saying they hated the performance, but I totally didn't. I mean, obviously, the people who have done that song in the past (Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright) are crazy amounts of talented, but I didn't try to compare him to them. So many people have played "Hallelujah." And they're all really, really different. So I don't think it's possible to compare him to all of them. To be honest, I was so amazed that he was singing it that I paid less attention to the performance than I normally would. I just love the song, and I love that he sang it. He did really well with it. I love that Simon loved it, too. It really is all about song choice. So yeah. Wow. Jason. He rules. Oh, and the story about his dreadlock falling off made my mom and I laugh really, really hard. I mean, WTF? XD Poor guy.
Finally, Chikezie Eze! I have to be honest. I was still freaking out about Jason. I didn't even really pay attention to Chikezie at all. I heard a little bit of his performance, but I think I pretty much talked through it. So...yeah, I have nothing to say. I'm sure it was good, though. Chikezie is pretty awesome. My brother likes him the most.
Best of the night: I thought everyone was pretty great. It's between David Archuleta and Jason Castro for best of the night in my opinion. No one really blew me away, but generally, everyone did very, very well.
Who I think is going home: Luke? And...I don't even know. I would say Chikezie because I don't think he has made as much of an impact as everyone else has. So yeah. Luke and Chikezie. I hope. Because I like them, but I really, really like everyone else.
Girls tonight. I'm excited to see what songs they'll choose. I love the 80's!!
Wow, so much for quick thoughts.
Anyway, I have a couple more entertainment-related things to talk about. First, THAT'S AMORE STARTED LAST WEEK! And let me say, I LOVE DOMENICO. My mom thinks I am insane. She is almost repulsed by him (she thinks he looks like Tony Danza, haha!). But, like, how?! He is so cute! And so funny! And so sweet! And so amazing! And and and *siiiiigh*. This show is going to kill me. All these girls get to make out with Domenico and I'm supposed to just WATCH?! What is that?! Why would MTV do that?! STUPID. However, surprisingly, there are a couple of girls I like on there. I like the one girl (I don't remember her name) who said that there are natural, non-fake-boob-having girls in America (she said this after that one annoying Kim girl--WHO I CANNOT STAND, BY THE WAY--said her boobs were way fake because all American girls have fake boobs or something). And I like the virgin girl. Seriously, like, I can't think of a time when I haven't liked the virgin on a show. They're always the coolest, it seems. But yeah, I really like this girl, and if Domenico ends up with ANY of these people, I hope it's her. And I think he really likes her. I'm just going to live vicariously through her, okay?
And OH MY GOSH, when the virgin girl told Domenico she was a virgin, he was like, "I'm looking for laaav [I love his accent so much] so I have no problem with waiting." JUST. LIKE. AHHH. Domenicooo. My loveeeeee! Could he BE any more perfect?! *swoon*
(Except for the fact that he's totally done it with a lot of chicks. Thaaat really sucks. When he said that on A Shot At Love, my heart totally broke. I mean, he's pretty awesome in every other aspect. Couldn't he have just kept it in his pants a little more? :( Domenicooo.)
I am so pathetic. Moving on!
I purchased two amazing things last week. "Sandwiches & Cats" by Michael Showalter and "I Am A Wonderful Man" by Michael Ian Black. Oh my gosh. They are both so awesome. Michael Showalter's has a couple of songs on there, which is great. My favorites are "The Mountain" and "We Had To Do The Show!" Michael Ian Black's CD is just comedy from a show, but it's really funny. Except it kills me--I'm pretty sure that the two albums were recorded at the same show (Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter DID tour together last year), and the show was in CHICAGO. So I TOTALLY could have gone. UGHH. Then again, the show was most likely recorded when I was 17, so I probably couldn't have gotten in.
But yeah, both CDs are absolutely amazing. I can't even say which my favorite is. They're both different, and they're both hilarious, and I love them very much. So YAY!
Alright, well, I'm going to go play Pokemon Diamond. I've played it pretty much nonstop for the past three or four days. I'm almost done with it. I have 7 out of 8 gym badges, and I'm about to take out the bad guys. I'm super-stoked! So, I hope you all enjoy Idol tonight! Bye for now!
