Funny that the last real post I made here was about Half Blood Prince, and here it is 2 years later and I'm coming back to post about Deathly Hallows.
Well, I didn't come back specifically for that, but since I'm here, I figured I'd post something. It's all behind a cut -- spoilers ahead. :)
Alright, I'm currently in the process of rereading it, just to make sure I didn't miss anything but in the first 8 hour, all-nighter run through of the book... I've come to the following conclusions:
1. My Peter theory still fits! Although he didn't die quite in the way that I wanted him to, I'm glad that he didn't do anything to incriminate himself further. Poor Pete. I just wished that we would have gotten some decent back story on him... but perhaps it's better this way. This way, I can go along the rest of my life picturing him just the way I want to and no one will be able to say anything about it. Of course, the bad side of this is that I will have to continue defending him, as I'm sure that most people won't have changed their opinions that he's a horrible traitor, etc etc.
2. I KNEW Snape was in love with Lily! Woo! Especially after all the potions stuff we found out in Half Blood Prince. I'm so glad that Harry got to see into some of his memories, and it was really cool that we got to see Petunia and Lily as little kids, etc. Poor Petunia... wanting to go to Hogwarts with Lily :(
3. I also knew that Harry was a horcrux! I've had this one guessed for ages! Even before we knew what horcruxes are... I figured that Harry had a bit of Voldemort's soul trapped in him somewhere because of the curse backfiring. And I knew that Harry would have to sacrifice himself. So yay for being right!
The deaths... oh the deaths. *sniffles* Hedwig, Dobby, Peter, Remus, Tonks, FRED! I can't believe that she killed off one of the twins! Why couldn't she have killed off Percy? Why one of the twins??
The epilogue? What WAS that? Seriously! It didn't seem to fit at all with the rest of the book. It just... I don't know. It was mind numbingly fluffy in my opinion... and what's with the names? HELLO?! Albus Severus and Scorpius have to be the worst names of the century!
All in all it was a brilliant book though. Half Blood Prince and Goblet of Fire still have the tie for my favourites... but it was a decent ending to the series. I'm rather sad that its all over now, though. Alas, life shall go on and I shall find something new and exciting to become obsessed over. lol.
