General Overall Summary: Due to complications back in England, Arthur moves in with Alfred's family.
Chapter Summary: kid!Alfred tries to prove his manly but ends up looking very fluffy indeed. kid!Arthur is not impressed.
His parents were up late again, talking in the living room till long after he had been shooed up the stairs for his daily before-bed routine.
Alfred couldn’t hear what they were saying, but his dad had a voice that carried through the walls of the house-too muffled to eavesdrop, but loud enough to startle you awake right when you’re on the verge of falling asleep.
Sometimes Alfred could hear their voices. That was when his dad got caught up in the conversation. It would always last for just a brief minute, because then Alfred’s mom would tell him to shush and make a reminder that Alfred was sleeping.
Except well, most of the time he wasn’t. There were monsters at night, everyone knew that. When the clock chimed (Okay, so Alfred's clock ticked. Same difference.) 10, the monsters appeared and held a telepathic meeting under his bed, in his closet, anywhere with a dark corner.
On most days, Alfred ran on a cycle of sleeping, jolting awake, shivering and clutching his plushie while trying not to let his imagination run wild, and falling back asleep (after making sure his blanket-shield covered enough body parts).
He did this all in a good night’s work. Don’t let any teacher say he wasn’t productive at home. He battled monsters every night, saving lives, and all that awesome stuff. He was a real hero in the making. What sort of hero needed to do homework, anyways?
Besides his perpetual fear of ghosts and monsters, Alfred was a fairly well-rounded kid. Very brave, very loud, very talkative. Probably not a good combination, but that’s fine. He was a HERO after all. Every day, when he gets home from school, Alfred bangs open the door and announces his presence.
It was a rather obnoxious thing to do (Did he care? No.), and that was the first thing Arthur thought when Alfred crashed through the front door on that fine, late autumn afternoon.
‘Obnoxious. I hate him already.’
In the meantime, Arthur pasted a smile on his face while Alfred’s line of sight shot straight past him and immediately zoomed in to his parents.
“Mom, Mom, Mom!! You’ll never guess what happened today!!”
Alfred’s parents simultaneously gave Arthur an apologetic glance as Alfred clambered onto the couch.
“Alfred, don’t put your shoes on the couch. You’ll get it dirty,” Mrs. Jones chastised distractedly. This lecture was, quite obviously, very common in this household, because Alfred dropped his feet off the couch, all while keeping up his nonstop stream of stories about finding caterpillars during recess. Mr. Jones just sighed and rubbed his face before taking a sip of coffee.
“Alfred,” Mr. Jones interrupted, jumping into the story when Alfred had to stop for a long gasp of air.
Alfred's mouth snapped shut obediently, and his blue eyes were wide and alert. He seemed to take Arthur into account for the first time.
“Have I….?” Alfred’s eyebrows puckered in concentration as he tilted his head.
“No,” Arthur quickly interrupted, making sure that his expression was as bland as possible, “no, you haven’t.”
“Oh.” Silence. “You have big eyebrows.”
‘Git.’ Arthur smiled. Mrs. Jones shook her head remorsefully, and Mr. Jones sent Arthur a wry smile.
“Alfred,” Mr. Jones started again, “This is Arthur Kirkland. He is your half-brother. There's a high chance that he will be staying with us for a while, so we decided to introduce you two while he wasn't busy.”
Arthur nodded in agreement. There was a slightly awkward silence as Alfred stared blankly at him, mouth gaping open.
“I get my own room still, right? And the TV for three hours?”
Two apologetic faces turned towards Arthur for the second time in five minutes.
And they’d better well be apologetic.
‘Bloody hell,’ Arthur thought, half dismayed half disgusted,‘I’m stuck living with an idiot.’

Any grammar corrections and/or constructive criticism will be welcomed with open arms! :D
First Hetalia project! Um...I actually don't have too much planned here, but I have a broad idea. Hopefully I can pull it off. Also, just as a heads up, the title is also probably going to be changed sometime.
There will be a time skip! (Translate: I'm lazy and I like taking the easy way out.) For this section of the chapter, Alfred is 7, and Arthur is 8. Starting chapter 2(There will be a 1b after this, maybe a 1c), I'll be switching to what I guess could be equivalent to gakuen hetalia.
...Admittedly, when it comes to blanket-shields, I've had the experience. Back when I was young, I would turn off my light and quickly rush over to my bed to set up a little fort of blanket. Needless to say, those aren't part of my noble childhood moments. I've always had a weak spot for ghosts and the supernatural. ;u;
Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed! Until next time! /salute
Note: Updates will be completely sporadic and hopefully not nonexistant. ):
