July 29, 2006- Stem Cell Babies

And now a message from the President of the United States, George W. Bush...

>Good morning. Last week I veto'd legislation that would have allowed federal funds to finance research on micro-scopic stem cells, which I believe are precious, human life. I can not stand by while frozen, fertilized embryos are discarded for science.
>Therefore, I have adopted 32 of these stem cell lines. My favorite is George Jr. From what I can see in the microscope, he has my nucleotides. I have set up a lovely microscopic nursery in one of the draws in my desk. I had my scientists build special cribs that are just a few microns long in anticipation of the arrival today of the sub-atomic stork.
>When they are hungry I will pour milk on their slides until their little nucleus' are full. I will bounce the cells on my knee until they are either giggling with glee, or lost forever in the fibers of my pants, in which case I will organize an immediate search to locate them.
>I will take them to the zoo. And to the water park, in tiny little strollers, and let them experience everything that life has to offer... before they melt.
>Laura and I have applications to adopt several more of these stem cell lines next week, which will bring the # of children in our family to 92. I am going to have to get a bigger drawer!
> Heh, thanks for listening, and God bless you!
