I went to sleep around 2am and woke up around 5am to get ready to head to the National Naval Hospital. Why so early? you ask. Well this morning Sean was awarded the prestigious
Purple Heart for the sacrafice he made for our country.
We get to the hospital around 9ish and rush to his hospital room, took some back corridors to get there instead of the usual way. Get up to the 5th floor and before entering the surgery hall [where Sean is located] we get wanded and our bags/purses are searched. Whats with the added security? you ask. Well Mr. Texas, Mr. Monkey-look-alike, Mr. Commander In Chief, Mr. President, Mr. George W. Bush, is at the hospital for his physical. Supposedly he was there to get his knees checked out because he wants to start running again ['from what?' haha, my dads funny]. He usually takes time to stop by the Surgical Corridor when he comes to the hospital for his checkups. Soo, since timing worked out the President, Mr. George W. Bush, awarded Sean [and a few others] their Purple Hearts. Sean was supposed to be awarded his Purple Heart on Monday by some other high military chief but he was on his way to the OR when they came.
Anyways, around 12ish Bush makes it to Sean's room [seeing as how his room is at the end of the hall]. Let me tell you, he is shorter & skinnier & smaller in person, the cameras sure do add on the 'pounds'. He shook hands with us all [stephanie, my mom & dad, my grandpa & grandma, and me]. He shakes your hand for a long time, I thought he'd never let go. And he doesn't say much or ask many questions, he's somewhat timid around people. So after introductions they did the 'ceremony' where the Presidents Assistant Chief read aloud the awarded and Bush clipped the Purple Heart to Sean's hoodie.
Took pictures and all that good stuff, said our goodbyes. And after lockdown for another hour [we had to wait for him to clear the floor] they allowed Sean to leave the hospital, so him and Stephanie went out and everyone headed home. I might have previously said that Sean was supposed to be realeased from the Naval Hospital sometime Tuesday, well thats changed. They say that the doctors at Walter Reed [where Sean will be going for his proshtetic and therapy] wants him to be transferred straight from the Naval Hospital. Which basically enfuriated the whole family because they had previously said Sean could be released and have some time off and whatnot from the hospital scene, so he had his hopes up. The situation is still being debated & resolved.

When we were leaving there were Goose crossing the street,
I found it amusing.
NOTE: Sean's eyes are closed in most pictures because the injury to the right eye cuases him to blink more. He's left arm is amputated between the shoulder and elbow [if you hadn't already known]. The dot on his nose is where his stitches used to be from shrapnel. Majority of the pictures aren't that great, it was a quick visit [5minutes tops]. Don't think I'm bragging about meeting the President, I could honestly care less, I'm just extremely proud of my brother, they say he saved the lives of the three other men traveling with him. They say if Sean hadn't shot the suicide bomber and ducked behind the truck armor instead they would of all been dead because the bomber would have gotten closer to the truck.
