new year's at ground zero

so at midnight here in the ghetto all hell broke loose. i'm used to guns at midnight, but it seriously sounded like the revolution was breaking out. i heard .22s, 9mms, .45s, .223s, 7.62 (like they were going out of fashion), a few shotguns, and what must have been a reasonable sized black powder bomb. literally constant gunfire for 25 minutes, with some die-hards going for an hour, with probably about 1000 rounds fired total. i went outside and talked to my neighbor, "grandma", and toasted the new year with her, while 15 round volleys of ak47 fire echoed down our street.
