My two day's at MEPS went something like this:
Tuesday I showed up at the recruiter's office right at 9:00am. Finished some paperwork and left for Jacksonville around 12:00pm in a 15 passenger van with only 2 of us on it. We had to make like 3 different stops along the way so the overall trip took about 4 hours. In Jacksonville, we dropped off 4 of the 7 of us at the hotel. The rest of us went straight to MEPS to begin our testing and processing. I took the ASVAB just about as soon as I got there. Finished at about 6:40pm and waited a little bit then caught the shuttle back to the hotel. [Come to find out I got an 82 on the ASVAB. yay me!] Once back at the hotel, I put my stuff in my room and headed to the cafeteria for the all you can eat dinner buffet. Wasn't to shabby if you ask me. So after dinner I went straight back to the room and straight to bed because my wake-up call was at 5:00am. Breakfast at 5:30am, and straight back to MEPS at 6:00am. If you weren't outside ready to load the bus, they'd leave you behind. No remorse, which is completely understandable. Once back at MEPS we started the physical and medical processing. All completely easy and boring. But after I filled out my paper's on what I am allergic to, the Chief Doctor wanted to talk to me in private. [I knew i shouldn't have put on there that I am allergic to dogs, horses, and hay. But oh well.] So taking into account the fact that I've had bronchitis and my allergies are all wheezing related, they wanted to make sure none of it is asthma related. So they sent me home early. I was REALLY hoping that I'd be swearing in at the end of the day, but that didn't happen. I had to get some more paper's sent up there to hopefully get a waiver saying that none of it is asthma related at all. The thing that I felt the worst about, was the fact that Mom and Dad were only 30 minutes away from Jacksonville when I called them to tell them that I wouldn't be swearing in. Considering it's about a 3 hour drive from MI, that was a tough thing to have to tell them. But I'm so determined, that the second I got home, we called my doctor and I went down to the office to get a few papers and then drove them right to my recruiter so she can send them straight back to MEPS. Which is where I am right now. Playing the waiting game. Eventually I'll have to go back to MEPS to finish what I've already started and get my career and swear in. Only thing is, since I shot myself in the foot and put on my papers that I'm allergic to dogs, I highly doubt I'll be able to get into the canine field. Which is what i wanted to do. Be a dog handler. Oh well, looks like I'll have to find something else.
yep. so that's about it. =] any questions? shoot me. =P
