It lives!

Hello. I'm still alive if anyone cares. I haven't updated this thing in quite a while now, in case you haven't noticed. Nothing much has been going on except some sickness really. I'm feeling somewhat better now but for the past 4 weeks or so I just couldn't get rid of a small amount of pneumonia and hadn't been able to go long off the ventilator, so I was spending a lot of time in the bedroom. I can tell when I'm starting to get sick. My chest will hurt and I'll feel really congested (in the chest not the nose), my chest will be real tight and I feel out of breath all the time. All that usually happens is I call my Dr. and he puts me on a weeks worth of antibiotics (one pill a day). I'm usually feeling back to normal by the second or third days dose, but not this time. It wasn't bad enough to be hospitalized again, which is good, but they had me on five days of one type of antibiotic (the one that usually works) and I didn't feel any better after that so they gave me another five days of a different type, which also didn't do anything so I ended up getting another five days worth of that, which I finished last week. At the same time I'm making phone calls and trips back and forth to the hospital across the street for chest x-rays and to have my Dr. listen to my lungs. I just talked to them again the other day and he prescribed a new antibiotic (one pill four times a day for 10 days) for me to start taking today to make sure it's all out of my lung for sure.

Also at the same time I've been dealing with my other Dr. because of the headaches I've been getting. For the past two years I've gotten really bad headaches and no one's ever done anything about it (besides tell me to try a bunch of over the counter meds) until now (I had to switch Dr.'s to get someone to take me seriously about this problem). It started out as neck aches during the night and waking up with a headache. I thought it was my pillow, so I stopped using a pillow all together. Even without a pillow I was still waking up with a headache. Then I was hospitalized in Oct. '06 and the headaches went away for a while. I was ventilated 24/7 for a while there but as soon as I would come off the vent to try to breathe on my own, I would get the headache again almost instantly, only it went from pain to this really loud pulsing/throbbing on the right side of my head, like in my ear (sounds like a sonogram or ultrasound). Anyways, long story short I didn't get anyone to do anything about it until recently. I've had a CAT scan and an MRI done over the past couple of weeks and they both came back normal. Now this Dr. has me on Vicadin and I have an appt. with neurology.

So yeah, I think I'm slowly falling apart.

Other than all of that, nothing much has really been going on. Right now I'm just waiting for my home keeper (personal care person) to get back. I gave her a huge list of groceries to get. Usually she just vacuums, cleans the bathroom, takes out the trash etc. but Corey and I always manage to get into an argument every time we go grocery shopping together so I think I'm just going to have her do it from now on.
