Song meanings : Bloodbuzz, OH - The National

In spring of 2006, I decided to move to Toledo, Ohio. I had been dating a man who lived there for a little over a year and the long distance was becoming cumbersome. I settled in and began attending University of Toledo and that winter I became engaged. Things looked great on paper, my fiancé spoke German, collected EC Comics, had several of the vinyl Cure pressings that were done on Stunn. However, something was always just off and our personalities weren't compatible.

The next spring I met with an advisor at UT as it seemed my courses weren't meshing with what I believed my program should have been. I had thought I was in the Recreational Therapy program. Turns out the staff that a new student must work with in order to transfer, had me enrolled in the Recreation and Leisure program instead. This happened at the same time as the opus of the decline of the relationship. I decided I needed to go home. I broke off the engagement, packed my things, and closed the door to the "new life" that I had been trying to build.
It was ugly and expensive and but when I moved back that summer, I met Bryan Klocko.

So, why would I bug you all with that long story? Listen to this song:
